I will be getting the 21.5 inch mac next week and although I figured it will handle well, I just wanted a second opinion.

Has anyone had any problems with Macs overheating whilst playing GW2? I know nothing of the Mac cooling system. Will it be able to run at high res etc?

The specs for my model are:
2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz) with 6MB L3 cache
8GB memory
1TB hard drive (Not Fusion)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M graphics processor with 1GB of GDDR5 memory

Thanks!

It probably would play gw2 decently.

Be warned, the Mac client for GW2 is still technically in Beta, I have a friend who runs GW2 on a Mac, and he gets some serious errors in game, from things disappearing, to GFX screwing up, his trading post also doesn’t load 8 outta 10 times.

As for the cooling etc, the game will run, but if your moving from a desktop to this imac don’t expect the same performance, all laptops will be restricted in terms of power for gaming, also to be safe, you should prob pick up an after market, laptop cooler.

also, if you bootcamp the Mac into Windows GW2 will cause the Mac to over heat, as Windows has ACPI fan IO control issues.

The iMac is a desktop I believe, but I understand what you’re saying. I won’t be using it rigorously for gw2 anyway so I won’t have a huge problem overheating. 3 years warranty will help keep that ship sailing haha. Thank you for all of your inputs!
