Would this computer do?
Make sure to get 64bit cpu and operating system.
MSI GTX 1080 Sea Hawk EK X 2xSLI 2025 / 11016 MHz, liquid cooling custom loop.
Samsung 850 Evo 500 GB. HTC Vive.
Thanks, just checked it. This PC is indeed 64 bits.
Anything else I should pay attention to? Will the processor, graphic card and RAM suffice ?
there are a few benchmarking sites that will give you more or less an idea of how your computer would perform in most games – gw2 being among the heaviest.
Specifically look up the cpu – single thread performance benchmarks, and the video card benchmarks
also, before you spend 500 dollars on an ok system, You may want to do a quick check for individual parts – like a 60 dollar mother board, a 250 dollar cpu and a 170 dollar video card will give you tons more performance than buying an entirely new 500 dollar system, and you may be able to use old parts from your old cpu. It’s really not that hard to build and there are tons of tuts on youtube that would help.
In fact, once you do a bit of research, you’ll see that many of these low cost computers can actually be built for much less, as they toss in extra features you don’t really need. – it’s worth the time.
Thanks a lot fot the advice! I’ll see what I can find.
My pleasure, I’m doing the same thing – i found the computer I wanted would cost over 4k in those customize your pc sites, after learning what I needed, I started putting together a beast of a system that has even more features than the 4k model for 1.5k but this is high performance parts all new ..leaving out the stuff I don’t need ….. I could also scale it back more to bring the price to under 1k ….and even less if I just kept parts from my old system…
It’s quite fascinating ….to keep it fun, do some research on the highest end computers you can find first- then watch some overclocking competitions, then a few gaming build tuts on youtube …..once you get a hang of what they focus on ….you can scale back the parts you want for your computer based on what you learned – It was no doubt an interesting lesson in modern computer builds.
Technically – you can just upgrade your motherboard / buy a top of the line cooling system and maybe even overclock your current cpu – I found out I can oc my old system to 6ghz – but i’d rather start fresh with new intell technology than give this pc yet another upgrade lol.
Two problems with this system right off the bat.
First, it uses a kitten poor motherboard HD 3000 integrated video. You will be lucky to get 15fps out of it in PvE, at low settings, low resolution, standing still in the middle of nowhere with no other players around.
Second, it’s a slim line system, at least the one on Amazon, so upgrades including an actual video card is significantly more difficult with limited options. Also getting an upgraded PSU if needed is also troublesome for a slim line case.
Of all the ones on Amazon near your price point, this is the best one there IMO. CPU is a touch slower but the integrated graphics is actually passable plus it’s in a standard size case. By no means this is a “great” or even a “good” rig for gaming in the minds of DIYers but it is loads better than your selection in terms of gaming.
RIP City of Heroes
Since the launch of GW2, I have used an old PC, running minimum graphics with around 30 fps. I’m getting really tired of that now, so I started to look for a cheap replacement. I found a PC costing $550 on Amazon, but since I don’t know too much about the technical stuff, I don’t know how well gw2 will run on it. I want to be able to run medium graphics at around 60 fps.
These are the specs of what I have in mind: the AAC-X4 Desktop Computer made by AA computers.

Dont even consider a 4100 Fx, and is that even a graphics card? Why dont you buy a custom pc?
