Hello all, as stated in the topic when i enter a big battle in WvW my framerate drops to around 5-10 FPS, and i find the game too laggy to even fire 2 arrows within 5 seconds. Even on the lowest settings possible. Is this just because the battle was too big? im assuming there were 100+ people there; or do i need to tweak my settings in my computer that i may be unaware of, such as overclocking.
here are my specs to the best of my knowledge:
Operating system: Windows 7 Professional 64 bit (6.1 build 7601)
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.3 GHz
Memory: 6144MB RAM (i believe ddr3? dont know how to check)
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260
my graphics card driver is up to date as of august 30th, when i installed GW2 and it told me to update to a beta version.
Any help is appreciated, i would love to be able to play in the massive battles in WvW but currently it is just too laggy :/

My guess would be that ur CPU is bottlenecking ur gpu. With so many people on the screen, its probably not able to keep up. I recommend monitoring to see if ur gpu is running at 100%, or if ur CPU is.

I have the exact same problem. I have an i5-2410M Processor and Nvidia GeForce GT 540M video card. And a friend of mine with a worse video card and a 2GHz Intel dual-core processor runs the game without problems even in big WvW battles… so I started thinking that maybe there is a tweak or something that I must do for the game to run properly… My bigest problem is that in Beta Weekends, when I played in the WvW, even if I were in a big battle, I had no lag at all… and now , like you said, it runs with 5-10 fps… so maybe someone can tell me what may be the problem ?!
Processor: Intel Core i5-2410M
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M (2Gb ddr3 memory, 128bits)
RAM: 4GB ddr3

More info here about old dual cores https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Question-for-Core-2-Duo-users/first#post77739
Is your computer bundled when you bought it? or did someone assembled it? Temporary solutions would be :
1. Pick “Best Performance” – then set no shadows/reflections , turn off post processing and you can set subsampling to native.
2. Upgrade your old dual core to old quad cores,($60-$90 from ebay?) but you have to check your motherboard if it’s compatible. (You can use CPU-z to check your motherboard and what model it is.)
Long term :
- Buy a new processor probably i3 32xx or i5 35xx , z75 motherboard and 8gb DDR3 ram. (Should cost around 200~350$) You might wanna check your powersuply as well.
- Keep your 260GTX for now and if you have the budget upgrade it (660 or anything under $200~)

and the computer i got at costco about 6 years ago and it was pre bundled. i’ve upgraded the ram, video card, and power supply but havent messed with anything beyond that yet. looks like its time
