Yet again, patcher stuck at 0KB/sec
I am experiencing the same issue. The game will not update on both of my computers as the download is stuck at 0. Everything was working fine a couple days ago.
I’m getting the same problem. 0kb/s. If I wait long enough, I can get as much as 300 kb downloaded, but it takes a really long time, and happens in bursts. Then, inevitably, it gets to the point that it says “Connection error(s) detected. Retrying…” At this point, the program seems to be frozen. I’ve tried:
-Closing the launcher. It will not close by normal means.
-Restart the computer
-Searched for local.dat in “documents/guild wars 2/” (but the file wasn’t there, so couldn’t delete it)
-ran cmd, then ipconfig -flushdns and ipconfig -registerdns
-Set my network DNS settings to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (I undid this after it didn’t work)
-Ran as administrator
-Ran the windows compatibility troubleshooter
-Tried running in windows xp compatibility
-Ran a shortcut with -repair
- Checked windows firewall for exceptions to GW2, which were present and active.
-Turned off windows firewall and windows defender (antivirus)
-Ran an antivirus/malware scan (nothing found)
-ctrl-shift-esc, then end program and restart… like a majillion times.
-Checked for any recent software installations that might have an effect. Mozilla has updated, and Zoodles was installed. Otherwise, nothing but games for the past month.
In contrast, my other computer is accessing the game just fine. The computer having the problems is windows 8, intel core i7, geforce GT 650M. No other internet problems are present, and all other software seems to be running just great.
Of note, I was getting this problem last month, but it just… went away. And now it’s back. Furthermore, my sister (in a neighboring city) is getting the same problem, and is unable to install the game.
I would guess that there are a lot of people getting the problem right now, who just haven’t taken the time to post. About a month ago, I saw many forum posts about this, but they all seem to have vanished…
Curious: Is everyone that’s having this problem on Comcast?
I get “Connection error(s) detected. Retrying…” for every single patch within the last month. It works if I try later in the night, but never works during “primetime” so far.
I’m not exactly sure what’s happening, but there is some small initial load and then the actual patch happens afterwards. Once it gets past the initial part, the actual patch downloads at a good rate. For me, the initial part always went slow and goes in bursts like Squarelycircle.6287 described in the previous post. It’s only within the last month that it gets this error that stops me from playing the game until I’m lucky enough to have it come through (again, only late at night).
Same here, nothing has worked. I can’t even install the client
Of note, another post suggested the following, and it seems to have worked:
Add -assetsrv 93.188.135.37:80 to your gw2 shortcut’s target line with a space between the " at the end of what’s there, and the -. Fixed it for me.
i just tried adding -assetsrv 93.188.135.37:80 at the end of the target, seemed to do nothing. im having the same exact problem, and i do have xfinity internet but its been okay with updates thus far. brand new to the game so idk what to expect from anet but im waiting on a ticket reply and hope they fix it, also im open to more suggestions on curing the matter
Thanks Squarelycirle.6287 for following up on this thread! Adding “-assetsrv 93.188.135.37:80” worked!
That IP did not work for me. Guys/gals, it is not your issue. It is issues with ANET servers. Last night the same thing happened to my brother. I ran Wireshark and got the result from the name lookup then did the -assetsrv workaround with him.
For some reason this company will not respond. This issue has been out of control this year.
Again ANET, what is going on? Can you please update us on this situation and what the fix is going to be? This is pretty ridiculous already…
I saw the other thread (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/SELFSOLVED-problem-with-1-2-files-remaining/first).
Other “Asset download-servers” on this list might work:

yeah, i tried it again and opened up the created shortcut xD thanks Squarecircle.6287
However, this solution doesn’t seem to be working on my windows 7 PC, where I’m trying to install the game. Running the installer with -assetsrv isn’t fixing it.
Thanks Xapheus.
However, I’m not even going to bother. After this same issue in the past and the fiasco last night I’m tired of this IP egg hunt.
I’m having the exact same problem, and none of the previously posted solutions are working. This is getting really frustrating.
I’ve been having similar issues. I recently am trying to get back into GW2. Got it to install initially (with some hassle). Now I’m patching 160k+ worth of files.
It starts higher than it ends, but even then starting at 100kbps seems slow – ends up stalling out at 0kbps, with usually 1 or 2 MB worth of data being retrieved before I try and restart it.
Tried the “..\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assertsrv 151.249.89.142:80 shenanigans, and seems to help the initial burst, but ends up failing like the rest. Tried a lot of different IPs.
Using Comcast in MI (Grand Rapids area). Can post with diagnostics/specs if needed.
Try changing your DNS to 208.67.222.22 and 208.67.220.220 and it worked for me.
I don’t understand why this isnt a bigger issue. It’s not like this is a rare occurance. This happens all the time and we are just finding work arounds.
ANET, what is going on? What is the solution to this?
