Guild Wars 2

I just bought the game today with money I worked for excited to play!!! I can’t even download off the Client! 0KB/0KB then poof begone nothing, what is the point of buying the GAME and having it on shelves in known retail stores if it doesn’t work whats the point of the CD! arenanet are you guys trolling me!? I mean seriously what is this?

Nah bruh it takes to much to even install this game I’m taking it back… Arena Net fail.. so fail.. I just want to play the kitten game…

keef, hate to tell you this but, every game that uses this type of downloader to install has problems like this, im no anet fan at this point, but, its a fact, I have played many free mmo’s and even pay ones with similar issues…

hell one of my most fun experiances was a client not able to get WoW to download onto her new system i built for her, took us 6hrs to figure out the problem…..wow’s direct download servers where borked and the torrent based distributed download was being blocked by her horrible ISP…..in the end, my fix was downloading a copy of the game on my system, then copying the client to a flash drive and putting it on hers…..

then she went freaking postal on her isp and they fixed it…..(because…..how many people play WoW?)

but yeah its anoying, and you shouldnt have to deal with it, but its probably a firewall/router issue on your end taht could mess up other game downloaders.

I would still get a refund, try tera rising, its f2p and honestly, it runs alot smoother then gw2 on the same hardware…..

Funny thing is I have Tera… but yeah I understand but $70 for nothing and no I tried everything everyone said and still nothing worked. Now I see why people stop playing the game honestly I see why… might as well go free for how hard it is just to INSTALL this game.

most people(over 99%) have no issue with install, the few who do, endup here, and have to ask for help.

my buddy just got me a copy of rift storm legion, was under 20bucks, and he tossed on a 30day time card when he added the key for me(their site wasnt loading fully for me, rout was borked…) funny despite all the complaints, rift still runs better then gw2…

for me, I have downloaded/installed this game 7 or 8 times, never had a single issue, but a buddy of mine had to change his dns to google to get the downloader to work for whatever reason his isp’s wasnt working…

another fun free game is raiderz been playing it a bit the last few days…..

there are alot of fun games out there that run better then this game even if you have no trouble installing it.

If you’re already complaining about that, then you’re really going to complain when you see how the game is poorly optimized and riddled with bugs. Even saying anything about it on the forums gets your account infracted…. I would just wait for ESO or something else done the road. Guild Wars 2 just isn’t worth it at this point. They’re supposed to be working on redoing the entire engine, but no one knows when that is going to finished if ever at all.

anet will redo/fix the game when the xbox720/ps4 are out, both use 8 core cpu’s and AMD dx11 video chips, so we should see proper support for more cores, as well as dx11 and 64bit(since ms at least are REALLY pushing 64bit and dx11 this time)

note the 720 cpu is 8 cores at 1.6ghz…..so this will FORCE anet to thread very well if they want the game to be playable…..and im sure anet/ncsoft management want the game on console, after all, theres a huge amount of money in the console jockey market….where people will pay full retail for games years old and where they will dump alot of money on dlc and gem shop items.

Ok So… I got it to work sort of, I downloaded the setup from the website renamed it GW2 started it up, it did its same old routine when it hit 10K plus restarted at 0KB/0KB but I notice after that it looks like its frozen but it isn’t because the .dat file is filling up?

I’m sorry Ashley I’m not about to do that I’m refunding it… I never seen a game in all my years of gaming have a fail install client to where you literally have to rework your whole computer just for one game that just doesn’t seem right it’s so fail. Not going to lie the game is beautiful but just to get to the beauty you have to go through a hell storm… its like telling goku to walk all the way from GA to CAL.

I play Tera, rift, raiderz, firefall, warframe, and several other mmo type games…..they all run better then GW2…..

Anyway on top of that I can’t even refund my game because I bought the CD version… that I paid for, a game I don’t even want no more… this is worse then trolling… you guys literally stab me and set me up… wasted time and money… wow.. so much fail… sooooo much.. you guys should be ashamed.

Well since you can’t return it you may as well try to get it installed. While using the customer support Ashley is trying to provide you with.

Some people would prefer to complain than get help, I have played a lot of other MMO games free and paid, none looks as good as this and plays as smooth, what I mean by that is this, the games either looked like junk but was smooth as silk, or look great and ran like a 1 legged dog, plus you can’t beat the support for the game, they are always working on it, and fixing things on the fly, one game I played the company would release a event it would be broke if the event lasted 14 days they would finally fix it on day 13, and almost have no updates and no support at all, so I’d say Anet is doing great.

@Gankfest: I hope you realize that ANet has taken great strides to improving performance for the game. Personally, I went from ~30fps on the lowest settings to ~60fps on medium settings. Yes, the game is buggier than other games I’ve played, but it doesn’t intrude on how fun the game is. If you’re still having performance issues with the latest update, it’s your hardware’s problems, not ANet’s.

@Keef: You have to understand that these things happen, even to the best of games. Even a game as simple as Minecraft has problems (just look at their tech support forums!). My suggestion is send Support a ticket tomorrow morning after you’ve gotten some sleep and calmed down a bit. You’ve seen this game before and you deemed it good enough to spend money on. Don’t let a simple download issue prevent you from playing this awesome game.

Blaming anet when it’s clearly something on your end….since hundreds,if not thousands of people are playing atm.Then even calling the game a fail aswell.

You get a response from a mod willing to help you,and your response is basically, “No,im not doing that….5m of troubleshooting is to much work !”

Caedmon I don’t care what you’re saying if I can run Tera and all these other games I can run guild wars 2 someone with a worse computer then mine runs guild wars 2 right now! Its not even that, I seem to find it not fair for me to return the d*mn game… now that’s the issue I can careless about the game atm… I can see if they put in BIG BOLD LETTERS saying (purchasing the CD no refund on the website) then I would of never bought the CD because for me to find out if its going to work is for me to open the CD in put in the computer no? So why can’t I take it back? That to me doesn’t make any sense.

I’m over it now… just wasted 70$ that’s what I’m mad about good luck to all the people who has the same problem…
