a 120+ Hz Monitor would be usless for GW2, FPS figures rarely reach that high in busy environments due to GW2’s optimisations ..or lack of.

For FPs games, racing, and other competative games then a 120hz+ monitor would be good.

if ur not playign competative games then stick with ‘quality’ over ‘hz’.

EDIT: oh and on another note u may want to hold of for a few months. Next year iswhen 4k displays and G-Sync capable displays will be coming out, both of which are worth the wait if u have a Nvidia card and/or have the money for a 4k display.

Couple things here, if you want Lightboost and up to 144Hz grab a 24" panel like the ASUS VG248QE, which is the first GSync capable monitor as well and is currently on the market.

If you want 27" getting 1920×1080 at that size is pointless IMO, and no need for IPS since Samaung’s release of their own PLS panels. Look at a Qnix QX2710 panel, you get IPS color quality but an overclockable panel that can see 100Hz and higher (you arent garaunteed an overclock), and cost is very good too. If not a PLS panel though, an Achieva Shimian, Yamakasi Catleap, Crossover q27, will do as IPS displays.

I recently got the Samsung S27B970D 27" Widescreen Ultra Thin LED Professional PLS Monitor, and GW2 looks amazing, the colour’s are amazing, and it handles the game no problem, i no longer play serious FPS games, so that’s why i went for this monitor, and i love it.

On the 27" screens what is the native res they run, mine was 2560×1440, so depending on your GFX card, it maybe a limiting factor.

You will want to stick to 1920 × 1080 in that case

Depends on your definition of run…. I can tell you with my 2560 × 1440 monitors on a 2GB card I hit a VRAM wall when playing games like Battlefield 3, etc. What that means is the game will become sluggish and unresponsive.

If you don’t plan to upgrade the video card, stick to 1920 × 1080.

I’m just letting you know. If you aren’t interested in FPS games as your PRIMARY for Lightboost technology, I would grab a QNIX QX2710. Just keep in mind games like Skyrim can exceed the VRAM limit and you may not have an enjoyable experience. I just want to make sure you are fully aware. Outside of that grab a Glossy or Matte screen and enjoy, they can be overclocked via Toasty’s CRU tool, many people have gotten them to 120Hz with no artifacts, so I’m fairly certain you should be fine achieving at least 100Hz. Just keep in mind the overclock is NOT guaranteed, you won’t know what overclocks you can achieve until you get your monitor.

That’s my opinion at least, if all you do is play MMO, I would just grab the QNIX 2560 × 1440 panel. The screen real-estate is GREAT and the color quality which is comparable to IPS is simply stunning.
