"awesomium_process.exe"
Awesomium, IIRC, is a version of the Chrome web browser that Anet uses for the BLTP in game.
Cool is it ok to close it down? Also why does it run separate instead of part of GW2.exe
It is in fact the browser for the BLTP (Black Lion Trading Post.)
I just ran a quick test. Started Game, Awesomium_Process.exe NOT running. Open BLTP Window, Process starts. Close window, process stays running. SHut down process, no errors. Open BLTP window, process restarts.
Based on that, you can physically terminate the process with no ill effects, but its just going restart every time you open up the trading post. It could be that there are other portions of the game (Maybe like the guild window?) that could cause the process to start.
I imagine, from a programming point of view, its easier to modify an existing browser to start when needed, than it would be to build the functionality into a game engine. I think that several other games use a similar solution (LotRO and TSW come to mind.)
Edit: I should also add, that the BLTP is actually its own separate website. You can actually log into it from a standard browser, and view the information.

On further review, closing the process actually made the BLTP un-usable. Probably should leave it alone.
Thanks a lot for the awesomium answer Kalimni (couldn’t resist)! I never thought of it from a programming point of view, but they might want to rename the process something less odd such as GW2TP.exe but that’s just an IMO.
As it is a 3rd party interface/product maybe they can’t rename it, for licensing issues ;-)

It’s called Awesemonium in Every game, doubt they change the name just for this..
Awesomium is a windowless web-browser framework. It can be used for web-page captures, embedded browsing and more. It is based on Chromium/WebKit with API for .NET and C. Google could have helped !
Yes I should have consulted the Google Oracle first, I figured because it was from the GW2 cache that it was Anet proprietary software, my mistake.
Once again thanks for all the great answers guys!
Ernizzle: its stupid to ask questions here or anywhere without doing a basic search first, and this is why, you now feel all hurt in your posterior….
honestly, I google then i ask, have for many years now, its very rare to get an answer from anet about anything here…..your more likely to find what you need/want to know on google or even bing then by asking.
sall good, you learned a lession….next time “google it”
