Every time I’m playing mad king content of any kind, or standing in lions arch my screen blacks out and I get these weird sound effects…like its trying to put me in a spooky setting…maybe I’m having a “nightmare”, but the joke is getting old.

I cannot play the game with a blackout screen, regardless of how interesting the sound effects are. I’ve turned all settings to lowest, changed resolution, double checked my drivers on this new computer and insured everything is installed properly, its something in the game directly from the mad king event and while as I said the “nightmare” idea is amusing the first time, it stops being funny when it’s continuous and doesn’t go away after a few minutes.
Now I’ve blacked out in the middle of fighting a boss in the laberinth in the middle of a group. so basicly while I’m sitting here typing this out my character is standing there, getting killed, in the way of the party, or at the least not helping anyone at all and I cannot play.
I don’t know what to report it as, a bug? I have no information to give but that my screen is black and I have to constantly stop the game to get it to go away. so I’m posting it here, as feedback, a bug report, what ever.

Update, working my way through setting trying to identify what might be causing it…
\64bit client. turned smaa and post processing off, triggered black screen immediately.
further note, has cursor- sound, not related to location- no other interaction possible-

i have this blackscreens too, i have SMAA in low and post processing in low too because i think it looks better with low for some reason but i have random blackscreens too everywhere

UPDATE- Reset-restarted, turned all to lowest>performance- experienced hype accelerated graphics both player and npc attack animations extremely fast display. No crash so far, no black screen. Just extremely accelerated movement and combat.

update- screen black out during combat- settings on low, animations high, used teleport power (druid)..
unsure if any of this is related but its what i’m doing at the time.

UPdate, moved from lab and now observing pvp—awaiting blackout, will report bak when it occurs again.

I’ve had this happen to me twice, seemingly randomly

client set to admin>disable dpi scaling, compatibility win8, no change, blackout within 10 minutes. settings on low, …
going to try 32bit client. will update.

What are your screen settings, as in, Windowed, Windowed Fullscreen, Fullscreen? Try futzing around with that. I dimly remember reading about someone having random blackscreens and they fixed it by changing the window setting of the game itself, by going from Windowed Fullscreen to Fullscreen.

Black screens appear to be a bit random for me – I can’t replicate the crash when I get back in. I’ve actually had my rig reboot itself and lose it’s overclock settings in the BIOS over it. And this is a fairly new PC – bought in May.

Interesting, so I don’t seem to be the only one experiencing crashes. In my case, I get a black screen and the whole operating system (Win 7) crashes which occurs any place, I haven’t found out much about it but had to reinstall Windows once. The only advice I got so far were “are your drivers up to date?” (yes, they are) and “repair your client + how to do it” (did it several times, doesn’t help). The system only crashes when playing GW2. But getting to know that other people are having trouble, there might be hope that somebody does something about the crash issues.
