what the heck just happened? did i just get hacked or something?

Someone in chinahas your email and password and has tried to access your account, but the games security system has blocked the attempt.

ok. cool. so i didnt get hacked then. do i have any options open to me other than changing my password?

Not yet. They have said that they are working on addition securoty features, but they havent gone into any detail.

The best bet is to run a few scans of your computer using multiple virus and malware scanners to find out if you have a keylogger. You need to do this before you change your password, as the keylogger will just pick up the new login info otherwise.

jeez. im so carefull about things with my games and online activity. played WoW for years and havent been hacked yet. this one threw me off guard quick.

All they can do is to keep trying the user and pass they have. Thats why its important the OP finds the point of compromise and fixes it.

At least you got an email. I dont really understand this system. I got an email, when first started to play, but got nothing when I got hacked…

i just dont get it. i dont go to strange web sites. i didnt click on anything in that email either. i either go to WoW web site, or my university web site and stuff like that. i dont just serf the net clicking on random stuff. i learned the lessons from my guild in WoW what not to do, and now im getting stuff like this email.

i run mac afee anti virus, so im hoping this will help.

Do u access mail or login to game websites from a smartphone?
If so and if its Android based u could have mallware/spyware on yer smartphone.
