Guild Wars 2

As the title says, i recently reinstall Win7 Ultimate 64 with all due updates, and i simply can’t install GW anymore. It simply freeze my comp within 0% of the installation. I tried installing it on different SSD/HDD and it does the same thing.

My rig is stable, it’s not new and it’s been tested for sability.

3930k (running at stock) cooled with an H100i
16GB of RAM
2 X HD6970 (running at stock)
Force GT 240GB SSD
everything is well cooled.

I tried running the exe as administrator and I also completely turned my Firewall. No luck either with that.

Any idea?

Are you installing from CD or a download?

This is a shot in the dark, but is Mumble running while you try, or Antivirus of some kind? Sometimes it causes problems.

Last, is Adobe Flash installed? I’m not guru, but I think I read somewhere that Adobe Flash was part of the launcher.

Another possibility -

Did you install DirectX?

Make a test login account in Windows and try to install it from there.

First of thks for the replys, Now…

- Game is downloadable content, it freeze in the dlding/install process.
- DirectX is/was up to date
- adobe flash is up to date
- I disabled Avast to no effect

It’s the only game that does that, I have a Steam account with over 40 games i re-installed this week on the same drive and it never crashed/freezed.
I also re-installed various games that i had a physical copy too.

Any other idea?

Are you sure that the download did not get truncated by your computer going to sleep or a disconnection?

I’m seeing few responses so I’m just throwing whatever I’ve got at you despite if I’m the right guy for this job. o.O

Edit: This is assuming you’re talking about the install process previous to patch.

Yes it’s a fresh install of the game, and all the freezing occur before it even get 1% done, so no sleep mode or anything

Also, I have Avast and I noticed it can be a real sucker to deal when you’re trying to make sure it’s out of the way.

You might want to also try uninstalling Avast, trying to install GW2, and if it does or doesn’t work, put Avast back on once you’ve tested that.
