hello i thank everyone for the time taken to read the post and if someone can help me i would be gratefull.
So il start ,i just got a new laptop and i got windows 8 for it ,the problem started when i tryed to download the client,i was in another country and the internet was not that good so i figuered that it was the problem ,but when i arrived home the same thing happend i enter account and pws but nothing happens ,it loads and loads but nothing continues,no download no connection error ,nothing,i tryed msconfig instructions but nothing helped ,has enyone had the same problems?

Also, while the game or updates are downloading you cannot log into the game. You can only login after the download finishes. I only mention this because you stated that you were trying to login while trying to download.

new laptop fresh new client download ,not updates or such,i havent played in a few months but dont you need to log in so you can start downloading ?

Edit: Sorry I may have misunderstood you. If you are talking about downloading the game client itself as in a fresh download, then yes you need to login here and select the client you wish to download PC or Mac (PC in your case):

Are you saying you can’t even start the download from the download page?

(edit .i got the setup exe for windows ) thats the problem the setup isnt loging in to download ,i just tryed the pc instal dns modifications but no succes,i shut down antivirus,firewall ,proceses nothing worked:(,il try using the install cd maybe that will work…..edit .didnt work…

Are you running the installer in admin mode?

tryed everithing disabled firewall antivirus internet security,added the game client at special exception rule ,modified to dns google servers and also tested the connection,all the values came out good , and yes one of the 1 st things i tried was the admin mode ,the game downloader client just isnt connecting,i even tried instaling of the original discs but they are also not connecting .

Do you have more than one pc, try a different pc or laptop and see if it will install also did you try to disable the firewall in your router or port forward the ports in your router that the game needs not sure the ports numbers but the game need 4 port open I think, Google port forwarding for GuildWars2. Also your ISP may be blocking large file downloads the game gw2.dat file is 19+GB you could try going to s friend or relative install the game on their pc copy the gw2.dat file to a portable hard drive bring it home and copy it to the folder the game created on you pc.

the game isnt connecting to arena net at all ,and the weird thing is the setup opens and closes a few times before i can write acc and pws,and as for the isp its the same on i have had for years.

I’m having the same exact problem, just bought the CD of Guild Wars 2 yesterday and all it does is say to log in, once I do nothing else happens just keeps on loading and I’ve waited hours for it do download or install game yet nothing happens, I even tried downloading it online but still nothing, if anyone can find an answer on how to fix this please let me know, i really want to play this game. Thank you.

That might explain my problem, hopefully it helps Alex but he did purchase a new computer and its more advanced than mine which makes it strange that it’s not working for him.

I have a great gaming pc. It runs everything new. I have recently purchased the GW2. I have tried every single fix I can find anywhere and it will not install. The client runs then starts to download. It gets to various different stages then drops to 0kbs and sits there. The highest ive ever seen it go is 25mb. Please help or tell me how to go about asking for a refund. I have had this game in the past on another account that is long lost. I never had any issues in the past. Please help

Some have had success with changing the language on the launcher, and then continuing the download. You can change the language back after the download has finished. You can contact the Tech CS Team for assistance. Top of Page – Support – Submit a Request.

The client is garbage. It finally worked, without me doing anything. This is after trying over and over for 3 hours. I finally gave up and went to pirate the iso to install the game (shoulndt be illegal since you cant play without purchasing the game, which i had already done) Just before i start the torrent, I tried one last time and it worked. It was almost like it know I was gonna go dl it somewhere else. Fix your crap client!!!

I did just that, but when I tried to change by clicking the “restart” confirmation, the clint just freezes and becomes unresponsive. Nothing helps.

Yep, that’s the problem I’m having.

I am also having this problem. I don’t have 3 hours sadly to repeat try this. Any help Devs?

Is client down? Cant download on my PC but it works fine on my laptop?

OK PROBLEM SOLVED FOR ALL THOSE STUCK AT LOGIN!!
Rename the GW2setup.exe to GW2.exe , who would have though that this was the problem?
