So I don’t have a static IP address, on the rare occasion I have to reset my router it changes and then the awesomness that is the Guild Wars 2 account authentication process kicks into action.

Apparently I’ve been sent an email! Except the email doesn’t arrive for over ten minutes by which time the login attempt has timed out. This gets repeated for the last 50 minutes now. Congrats guys, you have made my account so secure I need to actually be a hacker to access it!

I know my email system isn’t to blame as I get a response to the support ticket within 30 seconds. I know what the point of the system is but it is utterly broken right now and as it is Sunday it aint going to get fixed any time soon is it? Rage inducing stupidity

It took about an hour and 20 mins to finally get into the game. I had to use the same system back in September, on that occasion it sent me the email fine, I clicked the ‘allow this login’ box and it then refused the login :p

It then did the same thing on the next two tries and locked me out of the account. This time around, from checking the times on the mail headers, it just wasn’t sending the email until after the original attempt had timed out. Something was definitely screwy with the system.

I fully understand the need for account security but this is the second time I’ve had to use this authentication system and the second time it has utterly failed to do what should have been relatively simple.

Guess I’ll finally have to upgrade my phone so I can use the authenticator.

I am sure Support would like to know about your issue, so they can work on fixing the bugs in the system. It can’t hurt to send them a message and let them know about it. =)

Had this issue almost 2 weeks ago when I replaced my router with a gigabit compatible one which changed my static ip address. I waited over 50 minutes for the first one on my account, I timed out and sent a second one, but nothing still. Gave up for awhile. Came back 3 hours later, turns out, I got the first one 56 mins after the first authorisation was sent, the 2nd one arrived about 35 minutes after the second was sent. My husbands on the same Internet was instant as it normally was for me. So not too sure what happened, but I did miss my daily that day
