error code 42:0:9001:4418
I am also getting this error for the past two weeks which has caused me to be unable to login. If I am able to login, the following are not working at all: party chat, entire guild interface, friends list, LFG etc.
I have already sent a support ticket but so far I’ve been given generic “solutions” which, when executed, are worthless and cause me frustration.
Any news from Anet on how this can be fixed?
Same error here, but now it loads the character select screen bot doesn’t load the game itself after character selection… quite frustrating
I have the same problem, can’t even log in to the game, the error appears in the launcher. Any solution?

Hi, I just bought the game a few hours ago and have been trying for about 15 hours to get onto the server that my friends are playing on. Now I cant even log in because when my computer restarted i keep getting this error code 42:0:9001:4418. I have spent hours and hours trying every single 42 error code solution and none have worked. This is the only forum that i have seen that mentions this exact error code, does anyone have a solution?

I’ve tried reinstalling like 5 times down since I’ve gotten up this morning and it only seems to have made it worse. The launcher now gives me spinny wheel of death constantly and i cant re-download the game because the download speed jumps up to 2mb/s and then descends to 0kb/s. If i get past the launcher crashes and try to log in it is still giving me the same error 42:0:9001:4418. I did put a ticket in but it said they have alot of tickets coming and it would take a while
11 days and this is still a recurring problem. Is this an unfixable problem? Anet should have the decency to tell us.

After a month of conversing with support, I’m pretty sure they are unable to ascertain much less fix the problem. Has anyone been getting this error and found a fix?

Having the same problem , already try everything that came to my mind , I have 2 PC whit GW2 en the house, in my main gaming PC stop working 2 days ago , and in my Mac still working…

I’m getting this as well. It just happened out of nowhere. I haven’t changed or updated anything on my PC. I disabled all firewalls, reset my router 5 times, restarted my PC 5 times. Nothing is fixing the issue.

I need some help every time I try to log in to Guild Wars 2 I get error 42 which says that either there is a firewall or router setting problem and I cannot connect to the server. This has been going on for about a week and I cant seem to solve it. I have referred to the support page but it is no help. If anyone has solved it please explain the process you used.

I had the same problem it turns out that in my case another game was conflicting with the Gw2 game client . I was lucky as i went through each game deleting them alphabetically , Delta force extreme 2 was my problem deleted it and have had no further issues , hope this helps

Well, I just purchased Heart of Thorns, and the same thing happened to me. I’ve removed nearly every ther game, and nothin’.
I’m close to asking for a refund.

Just checking in. Also having this issue, out of the blue. Everything was working fine last night, I had no issues, and I haven’t changed any firewall or router settings. Not sure what’s going on but for some reason, I can’t login. ANET please look into this.

If you’re using a router, hub, or switch, please disconnect it and connect directly to your modem before running this utility. You may have to reboot your modem and/or computer to reestablish your Internet connection. If this isn’t possible due to your network setup, please run Game Advisor with the router connected as the information will still be useful.
To run Game Advisor, please perform the following steps:
Download Game Advisor here: http://us.ncsoft.com/gameadvisor
When prompted, save the file to your Windows “Desktop” so you can access it easily. Please save the file before running it (running it from the website can cause file issues).
Double-click on the Game Advisor file and then click on the icon for the game you are having trouble with.
Click “Test Computer and Connection” and wait a few minutes while the test completes.
Once the test completes, a “Test Result” window will come up showing the location of the test result file. Please attach this file to a reply to this e-mail.
Once we receive the test results, we’ll have a better idea of how to resolve your issue.
