Currently updating my graphic drivers no idea if that will help.
I’ve been getting random disconnects ever since I started playing a few days ago and I’ve tried the things you’ve listed. I have no problems with other online games.

Bet my diagnostic is going to show that I’ve missed something very important. Also apologizing for some parts of it being in broken Swedish. Hopefuly that won’t stop you from seeing if somethings wrong.

Got a reply from CS with an extra step that seems to have fixed this issue (although I’m still getting awful lag at times) in the DOS console run ipconfig /flushdns.

Here is mine. Like Motorbreath, I’m connecting via USB 2.0 except through a tethered iphone which has wifi (I can’t connect directly). Also I know my laptop is not supported, but the game plays great and I have no issues when I’m on regular wifi, just tethered via USB.

Unfortunately, most of my available game play time is playing via USB connection.

The problem here lies with tethering to your iphone this creates a large overhead which sometime causes the data to get lost or takes time to respond. Another thing phones usually heats up pretty quickly when tethered and sometimes they have a power-save settings that could limit your connection.

I would try to use leatrix latency fix but I can’t guarantee that could help. Try to connect to a wifi router instead or directly to a modem.

I have gotten this all day i can make a new character and get all the way to the loading screen to actually play them then i get the error 7 saying i lost connection to the game client.

I have tried all the options you have offered, but the problem arises only when I switch from the overflow server to the normal server. So that leaves only one option to enjoy the game, just stay in the overflow and constantly click reenter q which is very annoying…. This is getting old fix this please.

Thanks Alpha. It runs fine on wifi and direct. I have no problems running stable on the phone. I can leave it logged in for hours on end in the same zone and start playing with no problem. But if I log on and change zones/maps, I drop whether I played for 5 minutes or 5 hours.

I have been having this issue since prepurchase headstart. I had no problem while playing BWE1 at all then it started on BWE2, it got ‘fixed’ after I disabled firewall on that weekend then it came back on BWE3 full force without any means to ‘fix’ it.

As with most people here, I have already tried the portforwarding, client fixing, the whole suggested solutions.

Take it back flushing the DNS didn’t fix the issue. Worked last night OK but logged in today and disconnected after less than a minute.

Edit: Actually got worse. Not making it past the loading screen now before the client crashes with the error code then reboots the client completely.

had some time to properly test the clientport 80 option now
I still get error 7 with clientport 80, but significantly less frequent.
with clientport 80, I hardly get them during the day, but in the late evening/ night they’re still very bothersome

up until today, i had not recieved this error code. this morning 7-sept-2012 was ok, log out for some chores and when i tried to reconnect, i got the error. Everything seems to be fine from my end, i got port fowarding and the internet connection seems stable.
also no firewall or antivirus installed

Hi, the game worked well for a week but the 5th September the same bug occured. I uninstalled antivirus and other protections, open the ports 80 etc, direct connect to the rooter, tryed to change server ( i m unable to get the diag and LSP sorry ) . But the bug is still here, after one minute in game it freezes and i m back in the choose of character. Maybe the update of the 5th sept made that bug. I wish you good luck to make it works.

Sounds like your ISPs are to blame.

Normally I’d say this but seeing as every other game, download service and other online content is working fine and other friends on the same ISP that live pretty close by are playing with no problems it seems unlikely or would be very weird if that was the case.

From what I’ve noticed, constant disconnects only occur around 6pm – 10pm for me. Any other time is perfect.

So it’s either a throttling issue or the guild wars servers can’t handle the influx of logins at prime time.

I’d say there’s a a good chance it actually does check out. All my friends here in my college dorm play GW2 with no problems, and I’m the only one who gets this error.

Hi all,

Hate to add another to the pile, but I’ve just started getting this error. I’ve been playing pretty steadily for the last few days with not trouble at all (not even any noticeable lag) when this error started. I get at most 15 -30 seconds of gameplay before it crashes, when I can log on at all. Believe I’ve opened ports properly, none of the aforementioned fixes have had any effect.

I have random disconnects. Seems to happen whether I’m in overflow or home server. Happens a lot when I use waypoints or Asuran Gates as well. Tried the /80 tip but just seem to happen faster. Not sure how to open ports and I can’t seem to get rid of McAfee due to administration rights, even though I’m the only existing profile on the dang computer. Thank you for any help.

Update: Since I lack a great deal of computer literacy, I decided to go with what I know. Some people, here and other discussions, mentioned they seem to have trouble with the latest GPU driver, so I backed up one from 306.02 to 304.79. I have been playing now for about seven hours with only a disconnect here and there, three I think, maybe 4 but no more. Was too engrossed playing to keep count, sorry. Now, I don’t know that that is what fixed things or if Arena.Net did something, or if it really is even fixed but it’s a thought for all those who have updated to the latest beta driver to consider. For reference My GPU is a GeForce GTS 450 for desktop. And no, I woudn’t think a driver has anything to do with disconnecting constantly but you know what, PCs are complicated =^..^=. Along with this I’m including another -diag. Not sure it will show anything changed or not but figure it doesn’t hurt.

Update 2: As of 11:00 p.m. CST, the disconnects are back. Over the last hour I have DCd 5 times with the last time not letting me play longer than 2 minutes. Calling it a night. Here is another -diag. Let me know if you need anything else. If there is anything I can do on my end to help fix this, please let me know.

Good new guys. I finally fix my disconnect issues. To give you guys a little overview I played the game since the 3 day head start and never had any issues until about 2 or 3 days ago. After one of those update my game became unplayable. I would get disconnect every 5-30 minutes. I tried the clientport 80 fix, the -repair fix, etc; nothing seem to work. I was so frustrated I decided to just reformat my primary drive on my computer in hopes that maybe I had corrupted drivers somewhere. My guild wars 2 was on a secondary drive so I was glad I wouldn’t have to download the huge dat file. After the reformat, my guild wars 2 was still disconnecting me to the character select screen. My last option was to just re download the 14gb dat file again. I rename my guild wars 2 folder to guild wars 2 old and went about downloading the game again. After the new install my game ran flawlessly all day. Been playing on and off for about 8 hours now with no disconnect. So to everyone with the same issues, just suck it up and re-download the whole game file again.

I was crashing constantly once again. The worst I’ve ever had it was about the last hour. I deleted the game and am in the process of downloading.

Managed to play for 30 minutes (and finish a personal story quest), but after that → error 7 + quit game cause I’m till the balls of this.

And they keep on not saying anything… really disappointed with Anet for first time ever.

I’m getting many different types of disconnects. While they are usually 7:11:3:189:101, I also get:

I’m still convinced this is a client-side problem, as I have changed nothing on my end (other than some of the fixes in this thread) and the problem started yesterday evening after having played for several days with no problems at all.

I have been tearing my hair out with pretty much instantaneous DCs for the last hour since trying to play – logged in again and went and made a drink, fully expecting to be logged out by the time I cam back. Well I wasn’t? I must have left it 10 minutes or so – longest I have been logged in so far today – but as soon as I started to move – I got the 10 seconds of doom when you can wander round but not fire a skill before Error 7 DC. Thought it was odd that it stayed logged in while I did nothing?

This may help a few people, but it won’t help a lot of us. I’ve been getting error 7 since the last few stress tests before head-start, and I’ve tried re-installing twice already. It didn’t work either time.

Not sure if I understand you well, but I think that what you are saying is what happens to me too. If I just leave the character without moving, I can minimize game and do other things, and when I come back it’s still in game. But when I start moving around, or I go to do some quests, bam! Error 7 again. Maybe it’s related to be “doing activities”, don’t know… when it happens more frequently to me is when I’m in instances or pvp (which is the worst moment to get dc…).

Anyway, which is getting me really sick is this “no-info feeling”, we don’t know how much longer is this going to take… I’m going to start University classes and this won’t be fixed… :@
