game crash

i have been crashing too, apparently mine is due to the windows update. i did a system restore in safe mode and reinstalled my old graphics driver and it became okay again.
just crashed again

NVidia was already famous for their crappy drivers when i played Diablo 2
and nothing has changed over all those years.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
getting that flickering black screen thing then another outright client crash, this flickering black screen thing has just started recently

crashed again….

I’ve been having the same issue. Random crashes and there seems to be no pattern to them. Was having a lot of bsod first but reinstalled client and it seemed to run ok. Then set graphics to “best performance” and subsample to “native” as other people said that helped. Now it either freezes or just forces the system to restart. Happens every time I play GW2 and only GW2. The computer runs perfectly with everything else. fyi – running a Nvidia GTX 750 TI card. Tried uninstalling current driver and using older drivers but problem still persists.
yeah im running a gtx 760

If any of you are receiving our usual crash dialog, it’d be helpful to post the crash text (preferably as an attachment). You can find the crash text after clicking on “show details”.
I’m not getting the crash dialog or the crash text. Most times, the computer just blacks out and restarts. Sometimes I’ve had a bsod but funny, not always getting a crash dump either and those that I got have had different errors. I work with computers and I have been trying to pinpoint the cause of the errors and everything points to the game update. I have tested all of my hardware, ran other graphic intensive games and no other software causes this kind of issue/error or the computer to restart. I have never had any problems running GW2 until this last update. Looking at other threads running on Reddit, I’m wondering if this is affecting a lot of Nvidia graphic cards? maybe only certain models?
Just saw Nvidia released an updated driver today so took a chance and installed that. Ran GW2 and it crashed again…just a black screen & restart about 5 minutes into the game, still running low graphic settings. This time, I think it generated a crash report so I’m attaching it…hoping it helps. Thanks.

i get the flickering black screen usually after alt tabbing out and back in or similar, it bogs the machine down so much you cant do any thing, cant ctrl alt del either for task manager cause when it brings it up its either black or just not there, have to reboot. Theres no crash so no report just flicker flicker flicker black black…. it just now happened again.

I’ve been running it awhile with no crashes..crossing my fingers… The only thing is, this is what I did: Used DDU Graphic Driver Uninstaller (http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html) to completely remove all graphic drivers. Reinstalled the original drivers from the install CD (v. 347.25, dated 1/2015). Tested it but it still crashed so I installed EVGA Precision X and underclocked my card about a 100MHz. Running graphics options at “best performance”. Been able to do a world boss, farm a bit and I stopped at 45 minutes. Normally it crashes between 5-15 minutes. Not the greatest but it seems to work…for now. I will try tweaking later to see how high I can go w/o crashing. I sent in a support ticket w/a crash report so maybe they can tell me more.

Your system looks to be under heavy load (using over 8.5GB of physical ram and for some reason 23GB of Virtual/Paged memory). My suggestion would be to try to cut down on the number of processes you are running. I would also consider disabling virtual memory to test if you are still crashing (or crashing more often).
c0000005 errors generally occur when the process is unable to read or write to memory.

That sounds like you are running in FullScreen in a resolution that is different than your desktop resolution. Have you tried running the game in windowed full screen mode to see if that helps?

This sounds like it’s possibly related to voltage levels falling below what your card is trying to pull, thus causing your drivers to card to reset and drivers to crash. As with many black screens and crashes of this nature where the game stops responding and going to black (especially with Windows 10), your Nvidia Drivers are crashing and failing to recover.

Yeah running in fullscreen but all my resolutions match i will try afew things and see what happens including windowed fullscreen.

Mine crashes only when I start the game in fullscreen. If I wait until the character selection screen loads, I can Alt+Enter at any point after that with no problems at all. Even logging onto a character and returning to the character selection screen works fine, as long as the game doesn’t launch that way. Ever since the patch that added new graphics options (coincidentally, the same day AMD released new graphics drivers), I’ve had to launch it “-windowed” or risk intermittent black screens and system crashes (in that order).

so youre having trouble with your amd cards just as we are having trouble with NVidia cards so that’s not the common problem then, however we are having the same problems and they have both started happening recently which can only conclude that it was something done to the client, I suspect. As that link mentions about new graphics options, that sounds like to much of a coincidence to me.

Thanks for your suggestions. I don’t think it’s voltage. This card is only a few months old and it’s a GTX 750 TI that uses 60 watts and it replaced a GTX 460 v2 that uses 160 watts. Never had any problems running the game on that older card. and I’m running Windows 7, 64 bit. Pretty sure it’s graphics related… I crashed again but I was on for quite awhile before it happened. I have a support ticket and am working with them. Being hopeful that there is a solution.
Same issue here. The anet report log seems to show a different reason for crashing everytime. Though the most common issue would be “could not read memory <address>” or something similar. I ran the memory diagnostic and found no issues so.. I proceeded to throw everything at the wall. I removed all my OC’s, reintalled windows, tried using different ram, yelling at my PC, cursing ANet and even punching my PC. Nothing worked. I think Anet broke something, they are just blaming Win 10 for it. I’m running a 970 card here but GW 2 doesn’t even use DX12 so that can’t even be the issue.
I am getting infinite loading screens, this happened 9 days ago on sunday when people seemed to be crashing also, but this issue went away for me the following day. I can’t post the crash text because the game never leaves the loading screen, I tried every possible fix I could find on google.

Yup, I’m also in the same boat as you. Had the infinite loading screen happen to me 9 days ago and it’s flaring up again….
I figured I try it again. This is the crash report pasted below. As you can see I’m getting that C0000005 error but I’m only using about half my available memory. Again.. my ram isn’t damaged.. I put new ram in.. I put old ram in, I put my current ram back in. Anyone have any ideas

I don’t want to sing VICTORY yet.. but I’ve made it past 15 minutes without crashing yet.. Seems.. that Chris Cleary may be right and disabling Virtual Memory works.. but WHY?! Well, I’ll check back in in a bit and update on this status.
I did the view crash info and attached it. I did notice this one line.
Module: PrecisionXServerHooks.dll
So I closed EVGA PrecisionX 16 and now it started without a crash. My issue may be unrelated, I had a 2 games, GW2 and Rift that would crash on start during the character select screen or while loading the character. Once I got in the game it was fine after that and did not crash. I’ll have to play around some more but last night I had to start GW2 several times before I could get in.

I uninstalled Precision X and installed the latest Nvidia drivers with clean install and it seems to be fixed. I guess for me it was that one program.

I’ve been trying all kinds of things but still no real success…it eventually blacks out and not always restarts. I’ve tried turning off virtual memory, even installed monitoring software to check it was a voltage problem but voltage stays constant. I know I don’t have a problem with Precision X as I didn’t install it until way after the crashes started.
I appreciate all of the suggestions, from both ArenaNet and the other players…thanks! I tried re-testing all of my hardware but no problems detected. Will keep on trying.
So.. just and update.. disabling virtual memory extended the time I can play before I crash. Same error… every other game works fine.. anet is there a solution to this???
OK, this is weird. New update today and problems are gone…well, so far no crash. Crossing my fingers and hoping it stays that way.
Mine crashes on startup and shutdown of the game with the blue screen error “video memory management error” I am on a Lenovo Y410p with the 755m in it on windows 10.
OK, bad news. The game updated today when I started it up and sure enough, froze and crashed 5 minutes into the game, had to manually restart computer. Had absolutely no problems yesterday, no crashing at all. Tried something I read on another forum..cranked up the gpu fan speed to 100% as sometimes the vram heats up on this card. It seemed to work but later on it blacked out and crashed again. So, back to square one…don’t know what’s causing it but it seems to change every time there’s an update.
(edited by takitoyotomi.9817)
yup today it seems to have gotten worse, multiple freezes, crashes to desktop and a flicker black screen.

Devs, could you take a look at this problem? Today i had a few MB of patch, and since that i had 2 BSOD with Code 124 and a crash. Yesterday it worked fine :S
Just an update…still crashing. Thought we had a breakthrough when Support suggested configuring the router so specific ports were available and open. The first time I did that I connected directly to the modem and it was fine….no crashes. I’m plugged directly into a wireless router so I configured the router to open those ports. It worked at first but after 45 minutes the game froze. Today I tried again and there was another update loaded and I got a bsod within a few minutes. I’m still working with Support and hoping there’s a solution.

BSODs are caused either by defect/overclocked hardware or driver problems.
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2632598/bsod-bccode-124.html
BSOD BCCode: 124 usualy a hardware issue can happen for overheating, driver conflict/issues corrupted file etc increase/decreasr voltage often resolves but not always.

Solution to my problem.
use -perf -windowed after \Gw2FeaturePublicTestTiny.exe" in shortcut to rum a windows mode
After going back and forth with support many times, this is what I have to do to play:
1) placed rules to open ports on router, check to make sure that all of the rules to open the ports on the router that GW2 needs are correctly directed to my computer as the router does reassign IPs
2) delete the local.dat file
3) run Precision X to increase fan speed to 100%
4) start game in windowed mode.
Not sure why this works and it doesn’t work 100% of the time but it seems to work the best out of all of the solutions that we tried. I really don’t understand why I have to do this now while a month or so ago, I could just start the game and play with no special conditions.
ive been crashing nonstop since the mordrem invasion update, seemingly random crashes with the arenanet “report your bug” which i have been sending, now i cant even get into the game, i can stay on character select all i want but as soon as i try to load a character it just crashes every single time
I used to play this game all the time with no problems. I just recently returned and now my game seems to crash only when im in safe areas like lions arch and the charr city. this is the error code i get when it crashes. any help is appreciated. also i just did a clean install of the game and that didnt work.

You run out of memory; this happens often with a 32-bit OS.
Yeah .. only real fix is to upgrade to 64-bit windows. At least with windows versions
from Microsoft you can use the same key for 32- and 64-bit, so you only need to
download a 64-bit ISO with your win version from MS.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Awesome! thanks for the help guys ill try this when i get home tonight.
still getting random desktop crashes, but heres another issue that adds to the frustration, random disconnects, frustration especially when you don’t enjoy sitting in a queue for another half hour or so to get back into wvw like I am right now.

is there any feedback on the crash reports people have been sending in, is it shedding any light on the issues?.
