Okay this is really annoying. I was in the Crown Pavilion with a group and the game crashed for the 1000th time because of a display drive error, it just freezes and I have no choice but to shut it down. Now I can’t get into the pavilion because it’s full so goodbye fun.
It’s making playing a pain. I didn’t have this problem on my previous computer. And no it’s not my computer’s fault because I never have this problem with any other program, it’s only Guild Wars 2.
My card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760M, please look into this and fix this error within your programming, thank you.
And less than an hour after I got back into the cp the game dc’d lol.

So you think its ANets problem if NVidia once again released buggy drivers, and they should fix it ?
The typical fix for problems like that for me has always been try the next older version until you finally find a stable version whenever i tried NVidia.
I am also suddenly having problems with the game crashing due to the same error. My card is an NVidia GeForce 8800 GTX. Up until this morning I’ve had no trouble whatsoever with GW2, now I can’t even get the game to run.
The forum has a bazillion threads on this same issue so don’t feel alone in this. Last night I tried logging into the game and after 5 attempts and reboots I changed something. I have a Nvidia GTX570. I went into the settings for the 3D where it had the option to Auto choose, GPU, or CPU. I found that mine was set to GPU. I had read in here someplace that GW2 is a CPU game and not a GPU game. So I changed it to CPU and tried logging in again. This time it worked right away.
Now I am not saying that this is the end all be all fix for this issue. I’m just saying that it worked for me, last night, once. For some reason I feel like I am going to have this happen again. While this has been a problem I have been experiencing for a long while now, last night was the first time that I had it happen to me 5 times in a row.
Apparently I’m still using an older driver (311.66 to be precise), so “buggy drivers” doesn’t appear to be the case here. I see I can update, is that advisable?
I’m getting the same problem. Game has been crashing at random. Some days not at all, others it starts maybe after an hour then starts happening every few minutes after the initial crash – usually it’s just the game that crashes but rarely the PC might. Didn’t start until a couple of weeks ago. No changes to my system really. Every other game runs fine (PlanetSide 2, TF2, Thief, Skyrim) that I run.
nVidia GTX 560 Ti
Intel i5 3570K
16GB RAM
I tried going back a driver version, thought it might have worked but the issue came back after a few days. Have just tried Repairing GW2 via the Repair shortcut. Going to test that for awhile.

My card is an Nvidia (EVGA) Geforce 8800GT and I have no issues with GW2. Your card could be failing. Could also be your power supply (or even motherboard, but that’s rare).
Normally GW2 runs flawlessly for me, that’s why this morning was such a shock. I attempted running Portal 2 and D3 with the same results, so whatever’s going on isn’t limited to GW2. I’ll look into it.

Ugh it’s still happening even after I updated my drivers. Really annoying, I put this here so Anet would react to it and do something about it but there’s been no response. Plus a friend of mine reports the same problem. It’s not that all of our computers and cards are failing. It’s GW2 and Nvidia conflicting at some point.
Okay I can’t play the game anymore like this, now it’s occured 4 times in 15 minutes come on.

If you want Anet to respond, open a support ticket, its mostly other players or post here.

@dace: Nvidia drivers had trouble with GTX460 and 560 ti cards over the past few months. I used a 560 ti before upgrading last month, took me a while till I found a working driver.
The most recent successful one was version 332.21 and I’ve been fine with those drivers for well over 3 months.
When Installing different drivers, first remove the older ones. Never, ever use the Geforce Experience to automatically update drivers, it is known to cause problems.
When Installing new drivers I always go – Custom Installation and install only:
Graphics Driver
HD Audio Driver
Physx Software
3D Vision and Geforce Experience aren’t exactly essential. Also make sure you tick the “Perform Clean Installation” box, you’ll lose some settings but sometimes it helps to ensure the drivers work properly.
@UncrushablePigeon – I understand you’re frustrated and can’t play the game but ranting won’t solve your problem. Can you please post your system specs? Would be easier to get to the bottom of this.

Anybody got any ideas? It’s still happening after updating my drivers and it’s getting worse. Getting a kernel drive error now.
It has been happening to me as well for a couple of weeks. It can be fine for days but today it crashed 7 times in a row and it’s just unbearable to play like this. I sent a ticket last week and got no response.
I have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti, the driver version is 337.88 (the last one was crashing for me as well, thought this would finally fix the issue)
No crashes here (so far) but absolutely intolerable drop in performance since last patch. Can only run on the lowest settings, whereas before was cruising on high. Would REALLY appreciate a response from Anet about this.
I’m running NVIDIA Geforce 680m.

I created a support ticket so lets hope I hear something soon and that I can put it in this thread. It seems the problem is mostly for people with an Nvidia card.
I run dual GeForce GTX 660ti cards in my system with a GT 430 as a physics card. After installing the latest NVIDIA drivers along with GeForce Experience I would crash at least once per day if not more and would have to wait until the graphics drivers recovered. After some investigation I rolled back to the 334.98 drivers and have not had a single graphics related crash since that time and it has been over 3 weeks now. NVidia keeps bugging me to update the drivers but I am not listening!
I’m having similar issues; The game was working fine for me, until I went into Crown Pavilion.
My logs are here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Crashing-every-3-4-minutes-in-Crown-Pavillion
Repairing didn’t fix my client, so I’m reinstalling it.
