POSSIBLE FIX—-WORKED FOR ME

Here’s how I fixed this.

I started the game using command prompt “-prefreset” this resets all client preferences according to this wiki page:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments

Then, when on my character select screen, I used the control+shift+h command to hide my U.I.

I pressed enter, and was able to reach the world. Re-enabled the u.i, and was not crashed

This worked for me too! And now it shows hint completion as 100%! thankyou!

Update, it seems to work with the fix they uploaded.
Also the hint achiev is at 100% now. Maybe it really was related to it.

Nope, still not working for me and none of the solutions above are working here.
My launcher already froze before it could download any content, therefore I do not have my game updated and cannot get into the character login screen to try the solution above.
Also I cannot download the update as my launcher freezes there, too.

The 15-minute server maintenance seems to have fixed this issue for me!

I can log in ok, character screen is fine, but when the game is about to start , i hear the world sound, then game crashes… help!

still having this problem post patch, game still fails load in =(

just received mini update, no change still crashes on loading in =(
