Hi,
My laptop’s a Samsung 700z5c with a Intel i7, 8gb RAM and nvidia GeForce GT 640M (you can type it in on Google for more specs) I’m only getting 15-20 FPS and I don’t know why can anyone help?

Did you check your temperatures, before starting to play and when the FPS go down? Might be a heat issue, if your laptop can handle up to 70 FPS and then drops to 15 later. It’s possible your CPU is throttling to prevent overheating, causing the FPS to drop so low.

Don’t sweat it, just post the info when you get it.

Are those 15-20 FPS consistent? Or does it vary depending on how many players are in an area? You could turn your graphics options way down and see if it helps at all.
Your laptop is a little bit above the requirements for GW2, but not super-great (if I got the right laptop model; there are several with that number, and it would be helpful to give your specs directly instead of having us google them). Might be you’re stuck with those FPS. If they’re consistent, though, the game should still be playable.

That’s the average, sometimes goes down to 4-5 FPS sometimes up at 40-70 FPS when I first start playing. Number of players in the area doesn’t appear to have an affect on it. Yeah sorry I’m on my phone at the moment and can’t remember the exact specifications, I will get them when I get home.

What it’s most commonly at sorry not an exact average haha.

Make sure GW2 is actually running on your 640M and not on your cpu integrated Intel graphics chip.

I second this. Should be throttling judging by the age of the gpu. Your TIM between the cpu/gpu and the heatsings might have been dried out and need replacement.

Thanks guys, it does look like it’s a heat issue going to looking at possible solutions but probably going to invest in a decent Gaming desktop, with how much I use my laptop it’s probably time for an upgrade.
