My main issue was that the time I was able to use the free transfer, I had finally had my PC up and running again and Arena Net has no way for me to server transfer off the game via website around Jan 2013. Here is my little story and hopefully I can get some real help here because the ticket support people were very rude to me and even called me by my wrong name, thinking I was someone else they were speaking to and I believe they were reading another ticket while reading mine and thought me to be another person. Well I remember when the transfers were free and I was downloading the game unable to transfer from the website. I even wrote a support ticket if they could do a extension because we all don’t own super T1 internet! I was greeted with hostility and rudeness. The reason I was re-downloading the game is because I had purchased a new PC and I could not play the game or anything on my old -dead- PC. So I only really had access to web based applications. I even showed them my receipt for my new pc I had purchased on the date near the free transfer end. They tell me they can not make any exceptions what-so-ever to me, yet I find similar people whom have had the same bad luck get a free transfer after the free service has ended. I feel that Guild Wars 2 has taken a money hungry approach towards gaming and could care less about the community. I do not have much money and what I did have I had to save up and still to this day I am paying for my PC still that I had purchased in Jan of 2013! I have had problems in other games such as from the company SOE, and they always help me out with any problems I may have and never charge me for help or if it is a paid service, they sometimes make an exception. I am now stuck on a EU server, I had no prior notice that I would not be able to play on a new server once I had chosen one to start/play on (I was playing with a EU friend who now no longer plays on GW2, and still I requested a transfer during the free transfer period to a US ANY US server and still got nasty reply’s from GW2 CSR.) I really would like to see what the community thinks of my prior misfortune with Guild Wars 2 support.
I have not been able to log-in nor play on the current server I am locked to because of my bad internet. If anyone can help me I would be very very happy!

If I would delete all my characters, would I be eligible for a free transfer seeing as there would be nothing to transfer over hence no cost? I am currently stuck on a EU server and I can’t login or play there because the lag is very very terrible. I can only get to character screen! Not log in to the actual gameplay.

Oh, this is where your post disappeared to! I replied in the other thread you posted in, but your post had vanished. =)
I doubt you received a ‘nasty’ response to your Customer Support ticket. Maybe you could post a picture of said response. I don’t think it would be fair to hold ArenaNet responsible for your computer woes. Perhaps, you could have used a friend or relative’s computer to transfer your account during the free transfer time period. It would not be conducive to the health of the game to grant free transfers to everyone who said they couldn’t afford it, or their computer wasn’t capable, or whatever the excuse/reason, as everyone would just say something to that effect, and expect to be transferred at no cost.

Lol, you could have just asked this in your previous thread.
Yes, you can transfer to any server at no cost if you delete all your characters. Be sure to place all non-soulbound items in the bank, as your bank will transfer with you. Good luck. =)
p.s. You might want to guest around first, so that you can choose a server you are pleased with.

Yea they said it was deleted because I revived an old threat, don’t know why they don’t lock them then, seems kind of biased to singled me out because I had a terrible problem with the company they work for… Yes I had showed them the receipt and they can see when my account was active (not during my pc breakdown of course) but to offer everyone else free transfers then me e mailing them during said free transfer time telling them I had issues if they could help me or extend it one day. Instead I get a reply saying that there is nothing they can do and I would have to pay if I could not log in during the time. I understand I am no special person but this is a computer game and I should not be penalized $22 something when I got this game on sale for $20 actually… It really seems ignorant to have such a stern outlook on players when people of all ages play the game. I have proof and e mails, can take a picture of my broken pc I have literally 5 feet from the new one I am using! Things happen issues arise and while they were kind enough to grant the free transfer that players had used every week up till it ended seems abusive to me asking for a free one-time transfer. In regards to your “It would not be conducive to the health of the game to grant free transfers to everyone who said they couldn’t afford it” part, I understand that. But things happen and customer service should be more kind and respectful to it’s customers. I would gladly shut up and move on if it were not for the terrible server lag I experience and do the gold/gems transfer rate.

Wardark – could I get your ticket number? I want to clarify our messaging, if we indeed are not sharing information with our players!
I find it difficult to believe that the team member who answered your ticket would have been either disrespectful or unkind but I am happy to look into the matter, not to give you a different response, to make sure we’re giving the best response on every level.
Your personal computer issues do not qualify you for a free transfer, and to react this negatively to that situation seems in itself to be disrespectful and unkind.
But I promise not to judge either side of this until I review the situation. So please provide your ticket number and I will investigate this matter.

Wait wait wait … you got this game for less than the list price, there’s no monthly subscription fee, and you think they’re “money-hungry”? Do you think the staff are all robots that don’t need to eat or something?
The game has to be paid for somehow. You get a monthly fee or you get microtransactions. ANet made it possible for you to not pay anything to play the game unless you want certain extras. Frankly, it seems ignorant to me to assume you can get all this content for nearly nothing.
Ok, so I looked into this account. I note the ticket in January where you asked for a free world transfer, our agent politely explained that we cannot offer it, you demanded a refund for the game, our agent explained (truthfully and with respect) that we could not refund a purchase that was not made through us (you bought from a retailer), you argued about our policy then threatened to contact one of our lead designers, and ultimately, our team lead confirmed (again, politely) that what you’d previously been told was accurate and that we could not give you the free transfer that you were demanding.
I am closing this thread, as I cannot find anything else to support your claims. Because you have not responded to my request I believe you must agree that the topic is not worth pursuit.
