Hi guys,
A friend of mine recently (May 2015) did this Intel i5 vs i7 comparison on YouTube. It’s in German however, you can see the benchmarks clearly for both PVE and WvW scenarios.
Hope this helps answer some questions for some.
i5 3570k Frequency 3.4 GHz – Turbo Boost 3.8 GHz
i7 2600k Frequency 3.4 GHz – Turbo Boost 3.8 GHz
GPU is Nvidia GTX 970
Jump to 2:57 for PVE Benchmark
Jump to 3:54 for WvW Zerg Benchmark
Game settings at Ultra.1080p
Only a small difference between the two, less than expected in WvW scenarios.

Gen newer i5 Vs older gen i7. Per core, Ivy Bridge (i5) is 8% faster than Sandy Bridge (i7) per clock. HT averages out to roughly 20% boost in core efficiency.
In PvE, i7 is 11% faster.
In WvW, essentially identical with the slightest of edges to the i7.
I hate it when they scale charts to exaggerate differences.

errr…. ivy bridge and sandy bridge uses the same cpu arch. I would say that there shouldnt be much difference between the two other than overclocking ability.
A better comparison is haswell arch and ivy bridge

Would love to see some Haswell comparisons.
As people will see, not a huge difference between these two. Hopefully when HoT is released and reviewed, new benchmarks become available
Ivy Bridge was more than just a die shink, IPC was improved with tweaks to the scheduler and cache. A refinement Vs a major update like Haswell. Intel even called it out in their IDF211 Ivy Bridge presentation.

Would welcome feedback from anyone else using the same GPU and different CPU’s who has the patience to run monitoring / benchmarking and report the results.
