So i’m running 1650×1050 and bought guild wars limited edition 2, what i noticed was when i turned everything on max + SSAO on, my FPS went down to 45, i was playing elementalist human, using latest catalyst drivers, anyway system specs:

16Gb 1600Mhz ram
i7 3770k @ 4.3GHz
Asus Radeon HD 7870 @ 1100/5000

Should this setup max Guild wars 2? Currently i play Bf3 on ultra with no problems :S is it just bad drivers or something?

Anyone knows what specs are needed to max GW2?

Bro, i’m running an i7 3930k @ 4.5GHz with an EVGA 680 Classified @ 1200MHz core and I can barely hit above 45 fps with every setting to its highest. I had to set render sampling to native and turn reflection to off with everything else is set to its highest setting Just to get above 50fps. I have yet to see 60fps in this game since i’ve started plying on the 25th of August.

You guys both have rigs that are more than capable of maxing everything out.

My system runs max everything like butter on a single display.
Liquid cooled i7-2600k @ 5.0GHz with a 6950 flashed to a 6970 and overclocked to 950/1450. I get 40fps at 5940×1080 (Eyefinity) with high settings (not maxed)

No matter what your rig is you can’t max out this game…put shadows on low and try disabling hyper threading in your motherboard Bios

High end systems seem to be on the lower side of performance for some reason. I’ve had the same issue with my 7970 and my 3770k, not being able to get over 45-50 FPS. Installed the Catalyst Application Profiles which made the whole game a lot smoother overall. Sadly, that won’t help any nVidia user though.

Imho anything above 30 fps seems good in this game. The game feels smooth and responsive with at least 30 fps. That is of course if there’s no lag.

I have an i5 3570k at stock speed and an AMD HD 7970 playing at full hd resolution. I’ve seen spikes up to 90 fps and spikes down to about 40. Generally it hovers in-between 50 and 65. In world vs world in big battles it’s usually around 30 fps. All at max settings. I’ve tried 5760×1080 resolution a short while in PvE, performance wise it was just fine. Maybe I’d put a few settings just a tad lower, but really no big problem, some camera problems prevent me from playing at that resolution though.

Oh I have v-sync off, enabling it seems to lead to a less smooth experience when there are frame rate drops. (and well I prefer it off anyway)

Maybe the problem lies with certain processes running in the background? In the worst case some kind of virus. I’m running on Win 8 (rtm) and have actually a ton of programs open though. Firefox, Chrome, Skype, Steam, VLC, Visual Studio and Task Manager and Catalyst now to monitor the use of my cpu and gpu. Respectively around 60-70% and 55%

Yes.. you can. But you’ll need a 5Ghz i7 & high end Sli setup to do it.

I have a 3930k at stock speeds 3.8ghz turbo and two 7970s at stock speed (925mhz) crossfired and I run everything at max with nothing turned down and get 70-120 fps and when theres a ton of people on the screen maybe 50-55. Its certainly possible to have a rig that runs it at max.

I’m running stock clocks on my i5 2500k and stock clocks on the single GTX580, I net about 50-60 fps. I only randomly drop down to 45 when I have 20+ people going crazy with spells on my screen. I’m also running everything on max settings @ 1920*1200 rez.

I have a 2600k at 4.3GHz with a pair of 6870s and play at 1920×1200 with all settings on high. That’s good for about 45fps in Lion’s Arch with a bunch of players running around.

also running supersample and Vsync off.
I peak at 146fps but on average sit about 70-80 lowest i have notices was 48fps

Is this caused by Hyperthreading/The game not supporting multiple cores? My 3770k stays at 25% Load the whole time, gonna try with HT off, so, to max this game you really need to OC to 5GHz instead of the GW2 creators to enable multi-cores? That’s just stupid as hell.

Surely this game can’t drain more GPU/CPU power then Battlefield 3 or games like that, i mean unless it’s badly coded or something, someone knows?

Can you be more precise? I only got ’’high’’ as max option on my settings.

In WvWvW I get 20 fps, I sometimes drop to 15. Absolute Joke. It seems like they are ignoring the issue. This reminds me of the poor performance from Warhammer online.

Your system spec seems more than capable of running this game, remember this is a newly released game thats likely to have bugs and other issues that need ironing out. This can only be achieved over time, so my advice would be to relax and enjoy the game (45fps on max is great for now). maybe in a month or two you may find that the game starts picking up and getting better fps when things like game updates, bug fixes are released, nvidia/ati have had time to optimise their driver software and also for the initial burst of players all trying to play at the same time to settle down after players start to level and move to other servers and other overflows.

I’m running this game with an i7-3770K, non-oc, along with 16gb G.Skill Ripjaw 2133MHz. My GFX is a GTX 680 and I’m running the game with latest beta drivers.

The game itself is maxed out with all candy set to it’s best and the resolution to 2560×1440. The fps never goes down below 60, actually it jumps in between 60-61 even in the most populated areas.

How similar setup profiles can’t match this even with lower settings, really shocks me.

What extra programs do you have running in the background, demanding so much that the game itself runs slow?
