HoT key bought from kinguin, it got blocked, so bought a key from guildwars2.com, my account is now suspended, “suspended for an account issue”

Have I been suspended for buying a key from a reseller? (I live in Australia so the currency conversion means the base version of the expansion is $72.64 AUD and it was cheaper to grab elsewhere)

which I then did, after finding out that was an issue, but I am now suspended.

even in the initial support ticket I was told that if i purchased a copy from here or a specified retailer there wouldnt be any issues but the suspension is just sitting there not letting me in.

You have to go through support and submit a ticket to get it resolved.

Submit a support ticket, go through the steps and your account suspension is almost guaranteed to be removed. I only say “almost guaranteed” because I can’t confirm that it will be since I don’t work for Anet.
