It’s been over 36 hours since they last heard anything from support and my kid is freaking out because they’re treating it like the account was compromised, which it wasn’t.
Now when my kid tries to even login to the forums here they get a message of “Login Error: You do not have access to Guild Wars 2”. My kid can still login to their account, just not the forums. Is this normal for when someone tries to change their e-mail???
My kid even tried to put in the new e-mail instead just to check, but it wasn’t attached to the account yet.

Normally the two are the same. It’s the same login for both the forum and the game. Perhaps it’s glitched now if he can log into the game but not the forum.
If it’s been that long since he heard from them, maybe the email from then is still going to the old email of perhaps to the span or junk folders. Have him check those and read the stickied thread above, Not getting our email.
He can also update the ticket, making sure they know about the new email and that it wasn’t compromised.
If that doesn’t work and it’s been 3 days or more you can post his ticket number in the stickied thread, Tickets for review-3 days and older.

Sorry if i wasn’t clear – they can NOT login to the game or the forums. Only the login at www.guildwars2.com still works.
my kid has been checking the original email as well as the new one they were changing it to. We both looked in all folders and I’d already looked over that post on not getting email. They did try sending a reply to the last message from support, letting them know it wasn’t compromised, and asking if they needed more proof it’s really them and their account, but support didn’t reply back.. that was now.. almost 40 hours ago.
maybe we are just both being impatient, but its frustrating not knowing what’s going on. So far all they’ve told us is “The issue you’re reporting will require a bit of additional investigation.” which doesn’t make much sense to me since it was just a request to change the email. It would have at least been nice to have been told that they would pull access to gw2 until they confirmed it was a legitimate request and not someone hacking it. Not being able to even post in the support forums themselves is frustrating as well.

If there is no response that shows forward movement in 3 full days, you may post in the Tickets for Review thread, as mentioned above. Remember the process of examining this could take more than 3 days, but that’s sort a market we set so that we don’t get a lot of review requests for tickets that already are solved.
