loading time is killing me
Post complete system specs including OS version.
Sounds like packet loss to me.
In addition to what Kyllaa said, please also post the results from a Game Advisor report, which you can download here:

I was thinking that too, but figured we needed to start somewhere lol, good call.
Nope, done all that. And made a ticket. Answer: We know about this issue and try to solve it in a next release…
So the big waiting starts…
It could also be a slow HDD, or one with bad sectors.
A corrupt install of directx can cause problems like that as well. Try downloading and running the installer from Microsoft’s site: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=8109

Nope, isn’t it. Still took me 15 muinutes when overflow Lion’s arch changed to regular. And 5 minutes to get to Plains of Ashford
Thing is: When playing the game, all is well; hardly never any lag; game play is great, but when I load another area, it takes 5-15 minutes to get there; Changing a character also. It in fact makes me do only the daily when i can get these in one area or with only one jump.
And all the specials (like clockwork) I just can not do, cause it would take me more than half an hour just changing areas…
hope the upgrade comes soon…
Post specs on your rig, something isn’t right with you.
RIP City of Heroes
Yea something is seriously messed up with your PC. Try re-installing the OS.
..Or it’s just massively under-spec. In which case it will never run the game properly no matter what you do to it.
I really understand you guys, However, when the game runs, all goes very smoothly: I can battle and slay all those veterans; I walk in crowds with 4-5 enemies and still come out victoriously. So, as fas as I know, everything works fine. UNTIL I SWITCH AREAS… then the loading part begins and it takes ages…
(well, the glorious part is that i can talk to you guys everyday… Waiting for the next area (waiting for caledon forest now to get my daily))
I already made a ticket (answer is wait for future update)
I already did the advisory report
I already re-installed DirectX
I will probably soon add a better graphix card (hoping that would fix the “future update” thing ????

The GPU has nothing to do with loading times, the GPU processes visuals from the game. The loading screen is when the game is fetching data off the hard drive and putting it into RAM and VRAM, so you either have a slow HDD, which I doubt, any modern HDD should not take 15mins to load, unless you have programs in the background thrashing the I/O of the drive in question. So if that is not the case you have a bad/failing HDD or other problem with the system/game.
Well, my computer is three years old… but my specs are good enough…
If you aren’t willing to share then there’s nothing we can do to help. We aren’t experiencing this. Load times are under a minute with the worst when we first start the game.
From the symptoms I would almost believe you aren’t running with a lot of system memory or it’s full of other running tasks so the game is forced to run while heavily paged to disk but I can’t imagine that in this day and age. Or maybe you have numerous active anti-virus/malware scanners running at the same time and every one is examining every read from the hard drive. Running the game off of a USB drive hooked to a USB 1.1 port?
We can guess all day here but with out hard facts we are simply throwing darts blindfolded in a dark room.
The three things that would help are a dxdiag log (which will show us your hardware), a Hijack This log (which will show us what’s running on your system at the same time) and a screenshot of your graphic settings in game (but since this is a loading problem it’s probably not helpful).
RIP City of Heroes
I am willing to share, but don’t know how to read the dxdiag logs and translate them into something you guys could use?? also, I do not know what Hijack This log is???
However, today is great, since loading time is down to less than a minute (10-20 seconds tops now!), so maybe the fixed they announced in my ticket is a fact?
There is a program called Hijack This. It has a long history and one time available at Trend Micro’s site. It lists all the software currently running as well as the registry entries that list programs that get run at boot time. Press the Scan button, then press the log button and then post the log.
Not asking you to read the output from DxDiag (press the save information button to write it to a file), simply post everything before the “System Devices” section. This will give us a run down of your hardware.
I simply think you either don’t want to share or if it is fixed, a problem was with your Internet connection. Either way I’m washing my hands of you. Seek help from some other player.
RIP City of Heroes
Well, anyway: the problem seems fixed now for three solid days in a row. Not sure I like the post of Behellagh; I already know I don’t know much about computer software and I don’t need other players remind me that i am dumb… If you did not like my post, just ignore it…
Just hoping everything stays fixed like it is now
