Are you running a 990fx or a 970 motherboard? I run a similar setup, spec link in sig, but at 1080p. Roaming pve I get up to 50-60fps, but in zergs I get sub 10. My settings below:
My Settings in the CCC:
AA: Override Application – 24x – Edge Detect – Supersampling – Morph Off
Texture Filtering – Override Application – 16x – High Quality – Surface Opt On
Vertical Refresh – Always On (I get screen tearing if I don’t) Triple Buff Off
Tessellation – Overried 64x
In game:
1080p – Refresh Rate 60 – Frame Limiter Unlimited – Interface Small
All Settings High
Reflections: Terrain & Sky
Render: Supersample
Model Limit High
Model Qualilty Highest
Best Texture Filter On
Depth Blur On
Effect LoD Off
High Res On
VSync On
I am running the Omega Drivers for both chipset and GPU (14.12).
Another thing to check is to boot up GPUZ and Guild Wars 2, then ALT+TAB to window mode to see if your 280x is reading as x16 PCIE 2.0 or below x16. If below, shutdown your pc and reseat your GPU.
Also run CPUID to check your temps on your CPU, GPUZ to check temps on GPU.
Thanks guys, im going to switch to the 14.12 driver and see if theres any improvement, maybe the beta drivers a bit glitchy.
and the mobo is a gigabyte 970 udp3

I had the same issue but with AMD Radeon hd 7970 (r9 280x called nowadays) , I couldn’t use first slot of the motherboard (pci-e gen 3 x16) since my GPU was fried or something so I bought a normal 280 and the first slot of the motherboard worked. My FPS is at 100 almost at all times.
If you don’t have a problem with using the first slot then go and put it there carefully, might work and fix it for you. if not try to unpark ur cores.
thanks for the reply on my thread about low framerates, I installed the omega driver 14.12 for both chipset and GPU and the game runs fine now, so now my brother has perfect framerates and is happy with the game

that’s weird, the omega 14;12 driver is a the default driver that should be installed. probably that’s why.. not having gpu driver could kill the frames.

I wonder what drivers you have used. None of the drivers that were release in the
last year gave me problems with my FPS. Only problem i had with the drivers
released in the second half of 2014 were that i more often had driver crashes.
At the moment i use the latest beta drivers, and very very seldom crashes now.
