so i was told to change my toon name. i don’t really think it was all that offensive, but i dont think i have a choice in the matter here. i think its awesome that you offer a free name change as a warning, but i didnt realize at the time what was going on. so i re-entered my exact same name. my mistake, hope theres a way to take it back before i get banned for 3 days

it would be kinda nice if you could make it a little bit more clear as to why i had to change my name. if i had got a note saying, your previous name was too offensive, so you must rename it, i probably would have known what to do. but i would like a little more time to think of a new name for my toon.

I would suggest not using that character in game for risk of it being reported again. You might consider contacting support in the mean time.

Yah contact support and tell them you put in the same name because you were confused and ask for another renaming.

“i don’t really think it was all that offensive” tells me that you did recognize there was some degree of offensiveness to it. The reason why you thought it could have been offensive is likely the reason why you were forced to rename.

so yeah. i am currently banned for 3 days. i contacted support but i havent heard from them.

my character name could definitely be considered offensive. if i had understood what was going on, i would have changed it to something not offensive. i just wanted to play, i had no idea that my character name broke any rules. i have almost 250 hours logged on the character over 4 months. in that long amount of time, i was never hinted that my name was too offensive. i didn’t mean to break the rules; once i figured out that i shouldn’t have kept the same character name, i tried to correct it by contacting support right away.

anyways, if someone could please unban me, i will gladly change my character name to something totally unoffensive. tl;dr: i was unsure why i was told to change my character name. if i had known that i would have gladly renamed my character. i just want to play, i don’t want to offend anyone

edit: somehow im magically unbanned and i have a chance to rename my characters. thanks for bein understanding man up there behind the monitor

and crap i am banned again. had no idea you cant reference real life people. total dumb ignorance on my part. well i would hope that i get a chance to try again. man i feel dumb. but please give me another chance. i don’t want to break any rules here i just want to play. i assure you i have studied the naming policy to the fullest this time around.

I would like to thank the GW2 support team. I got an email response back. Wow, you guys are great. I was banned for a matter of minutes before someone took care of the problem. Given that I am the offender in this case, it’s pretty awesome that you guys took the time to help me deal with this. You could have just said too bad, you broke a rule, but you didn’t. Thanks for being willing to work with me

good to hear, I’ve always had good experiance with support. I don’t feel they are the flock of evil flying monkeys as some want to say.
