Posting from work, will get screenshots when I get home if needed, but I imagine this is a documented issue already as it’s existed since Beta. When using nVidia surround at 5760×1080 the Chat and Party frames are clamped to the far left on the left screen and can only be manipulated vertically by swapping positions, instead of them being clamped to the left side of the primary/center display like the MiniMap is. It does this in both Windowed and Fullscreen modes.

Also in Cutscenes while in Surround the characters are stretched horizontally and are not within the cutscene frame, but span between the displays left/center and center/right and the Cutscene background is squished a bit on the center display.

Character selection is similar in fullscreen mode, with the character’s model being stretched horizontally almost taking up the entire center display. In windowed mode it is not stretched, though the character is zoomed in to the point where only their midsection is visible.

I don’t know if anyone has experienced this as well or knows of any workarounds for it other than disabling Surround entirely and playing on a single display. Outside of these 3 issues surround seems to work just fine in normal gameplay.

GTX 690 using 306.02 Beta Drivers and the 301.42 WHQL release drivers.

Have you tried it personally? I was going to try it but then saw there was people having issues with the game crashing after 30-45 minutes so I decided not to use it.

edit: tried FWS and either I have it setup wrong (manual to 5760×1080 and HUD set to 1920×1080) and the chat frame and party frames are still stuck on the far left display.

edit 2: nope messed around with some settings and they are affecting the game’s HUD, however the chat frame remains unchanged.

To summarize them in windowed mode the aspect seems correct, but it’s scaled incorrectly, can only see from the waist up on the selection and creation screens.

In fullscreen, the background art is restricted to the center display and all models are stretched horizontally.

As a side note, might be limited to just myself, in the racial selection screens in Fullscreen the selection graphics (ie. Charr, Norn etc.) flicker. Doesn’t seem to happen in Windowed mode.

Had a thought that the resolution might be skewed because I’m running a 1×3 setup with an accessory display on top. Tried disabling my accessory display but the problem persists in fullscreen and windowed mode.

edit: Also not sure if I made it clear before, disabling surround entirely and playing at 1920×1080 on a single display has no issues at all. Well…there is an issue in that I have 2 black displays either side!

I’m running into the same issue. Zoomed in cut scenes, character select screen, and so on.

A freely moveable UI would at least make it bearable. I’d love to be able to run at 6000×1080 and still have my chat and minimap on the center screen.

Also reporting in with the same problem as the op. Running 5940×1200 on a pair of 4gb 670 gtx’s. The story and character screen is bearable as you know when both will be happening so you can go into single monitor mode for them, however the chat window locked on on the far left side is a major pain. I have the same flicker as Tradewind when selecting race (the background paintbrush effect behind the race name).

Tried both the current 301.42 and beta 306.02 drivers with same results.

I do have all the same problems, and its really bad to have the chat screen on the far left.

I fear we do never get a fix from anet for this.

Hope this other mentioned tool is able to fix it somehow.

+1, absolutely need to be able to move chat and party panel to center screen. I have to drop down to 1 screen for dungeons so I can keep an eye on people’s conditions, health, etc. Turning my head way to the left is not working so well :P

+1, missed a bunch of tells and guild chat messages yesterday cause of the chat window being lodged in the lower left.
The funny thing is when you drag it to move it, the white boxes are indicated on the middle monitor but the actual windows are on the far left one.

Not having any issues with the minimap, loot window was on the far right one but at least that one could be moved.

I am running at 7860×1440 and I have the same EXACT issues!

using sli 670 sc 4gbs on the latest nvidia beta drivers.

Also in portrait surround at 4320×2560 the game flickers and crashes when launching… i’m guessing the game doesn’t support that high of a resolution, but I know portrait works for people 3240×1920.

Please get these fixes in Arenanet!

Niche or otherwise, I know I got this setup specifically for GW2 after watching the PAX and E3 demos on systems using a triple display setup and my immediate reaction was “do want!” Which is odd since in those demos there were no apparent UI issues

I can live with the cutscenes and char selection looking wacky because those are just niggling little details, but oh man does the chat and party frame thing annoy the hell out of me!

I run 3 23" monitors @ 5760×1080 on two GTX 570’s and I have provided all the information above in the first post in detailed earlier communications with the development team. They are aware and it is on the post release work list as I understand it.

I have the same issues. I also noticed a new odd one, when I capture screen shots under water on my 3 monitor setup it actually gray’s out the center screen area.

Clearly the problem is related to the giant shark about to eat your Elementalist!

I’ll have to try that when I get home as well, never noticed but I haven’t tried taking any underwater SS’s yet.

In nvsurround camera movement is severely limited compared to a normal screen resolution.

You will notice this when you go close up to walls and on jumping puzzles that you cannot move the camera properly while in nvsurround and switching to a windowed mode you will get the full rotation possible.

As everytime I do a jumping puzzle I have to flip to windowed mode to do it due to this.

The camera seems limited by the FOV and environment from what I gathered even on the latest nvidia driver it still does it as you cannot move the camera into a wall etc even if it hits the very edge side of the screen which ends up giving less of a turning radius for the camera.

I think one of the patches fixed the camera, I used to have the stuck camera as well and would have to go back to single monitor to play the jumping games but that is no longer the case.

Still hoping for a fix for us “niche” gamers…

yup I was there and saw that. Thats one of the things that intrigued me to get a surround setup. That was in the alienware trailer showing off triple and 3d.

I wish we could get a response in this thread from Anet

Latest patch now causes GW2 to crash (after flashing, almost causing a seizure) when changing resolution.

Is this happening to you guys too? No more switching back and forth. =(

I am having the same issues as the OP. Sure, I can play in Windowed mode – and the issues go away, but FPS really suffers. Would really like to play this game in native fullscreen mode without the issues! The game is beautiful with a triple monitor setup, I would really like to be able to take full advantage of it without having to deal with these problems.

Yeah it was the tech demo videos of triple display setups for gw2 that prompted me to go the route I did with a new GTX 690 and 3 new BenQ XL2420T monitors. Granted the game still looks great, just these little details, it’s like finding sand in your scallops!

Just gonna stop by and let you guys know that we are aware of ALL of the issues with AMD Eyefinity and Nvidia Surround. We’re prioritizing these things, which can be a bummer for those of you that have these awesome setups, but will definitely be addressing them in the near future.

I’m glad the camera fixes that we got in addressed the issue with the camera getting stuck. The UI placement and all those wonky issues with character select, creation, cinematics, etc will get some love, too, soon.

By the way, I’ll keep my eye out for any new issues that pop up with these setups. Your voices are being heard .

Thanks for fixing the camera bug so fast. That was a bummer after enjoying the BWE’s so much to have to go back to single screen.

Wish I could enjoy the storyline cut scenes in the correct aspect ratio on my first playthrough as at lvl 60 it’s really getting good, but there’s always my other 7 characters to soak it in.

Also hope the chat, party, map, event log will be able to be freely positioned instead of forcing them all on the main screen.

I am more worried by the fact that my gtx 690 on sli under performs in gw2 and gets low fps in some places. I have to use single card to avoid these problems even with latest beta drivers.

I want to try and enable my surround, but what the point if if i get low fps on a 850 pound gfx card when sli does nothing than spreading the load over 2 cards instead of fully using them

Awesome, I to am a triplescreen Nvidia Surround player and I absolutely love playing the game at 5760×1080. If we could get some fixes remedied (cutscenes, UI Chat, etc) that would be amazing.

Because as you can see, this game is gorgeous in Surround

I have 680SLI and the game performance is appalling. I’m running at 1920×1080 because the Surround resolutions are simply too poor, both in terms of framerate and GUI issues.

Battlefield 3 runs on Ultra at 60fps on the same setup at Surround resolutions and is the best looking game on the market.

GW2 has great art direction but the game engine feels old and clunky.

I often wonder what the story line characters look like. All I have seen are torsos since I started. Well that’s not entirely true, as I made an Asura alt, and I get to see the shoulders and heads in story lines for him.

Bump….I mean, hey! I have an update!

We’ve got fixes for 3D, Nvidia Surround and AMD Eyefinity coming down the pipe in the next few builds.

I believe the next build will contain fixes for 3D, including the inability to launch with 3D enabled. I’m not 100% sure, but we have some fixes for Nvidia Surround in the works too and might even slip a couple of those in that build, too.

We’ll be continuing to hammer away and get these issues all resolved. Thanks for hanging in there everyone!
