Giving everyone a heads up, Nvidia issued a new beta driver yesterday 320.49 I installed it, noticed a small improvement, nothing big…but looks like it helped a little.

ditto, my 780GTX seems to be running smoother.

It debuted its release with the GTX 760. Likewise, the driver may have helped a little, if anything. No adverse effects yet.

Helped what? Some details would be nice I’ve been dealing with this crash issue since I installed the game about a month ago:

—> Crash <—
Assertion: (m_dims.x == highResDims.x >> 1) && (m_dims.y == highResDims.y >> 1)
File: ..\..\..\Engine\Gr\Dx9\Dx9Tex.cpp(1154)

I use the 3.14 nVidia drivers. Tried older drives and get the BlackScreen (not fixable with the suggested fix), and tried the 320 drivers (the ones just prior to the version you suggested) and the game crashes with the error above immediately upon logging in a character. It’s not just my issue. Me and several others players are disparate for a resolution to this issue. If these latest beta drivers help, I’d like to know—yeah, I’ll try them and see what happens.

Have you tried repairing the client or re-installing the client completely? Also on wind 7 try right clicking on the EXE file and select run as admin see if that helps

the version before 320.49 – people on the net were complaining about how the card was overheating and causing the system to act erratic. Now I did notice that 320.49 had a compatibility test included and I did not get the same control panel as I did in 320.18 – so I’m guessing from this, that they issued some incompatible code that were causing some systems to fail – chances are because of varying motherboards. Now I don’t know if the current control panel is just a beta thing and in the final release they will return it to the prior one. Nvidia says that a clean install is no longer necessary and if anything it removes prior settings, so you’d have to redo any custom configurations on your system – but I went ahead and did a clean install anyways to remove any old files in my system – so far I’ve noticed the card run more stable – at one point in the last version my computer was overheating and shutting down literally over 5 times a day – and that is not happening anymore. I’m still getting massive lag spikes in GW though, and I strongly suspect ( would even dare go as far as saying I’m positive ) that the GW2 event dragon bash added some bad code – I say this because I almost finished my monthly in 2 days – yet the current gw2 performance makes it inconceivable to even try as my wvw performance is horrid.

I’m still waiting to see if microsoft issues any new patches lately because I also highly suspect this is a multi part problem – again with drivers for motherboards – I remember watching my system performance degrade right after I installed new / updated drivers from intel. – really frustrates me that windows says it has no new drivers before and after I installed updated drivers from intel…like whats up with that microsoft …any mobo driver is the best driver for my system ?!

I must admit that I am also disappointed in Anet as I watch people start countless threads about buying new systems …and not only does Anet not chime in to give advice on what a good system for gw2 is , they are rather nonchalant about giving us details on what could possibly causing this and plays the ‘crazy making’ game telling people it’s their system or isp while others are showing clear evidence their connections are fine.

seriously, if there’s a problem at least let us know so we don’t waste time and money looking for solutions that don’t exist. I’m a big fan of gw since it first came out ..but this doesn’t feel like the team that created the original gw – sorry guys, I tried hard to look at all sides of this argument to be fair …your lack of participation in the “help me build a computer” threads shows how much you really don’t care as you let everyone guess a new build…when their computers might actually be fine, as if you are letting everyone pay for your bad code.

just found another issue with intel – they were quick and easy to update my mobo drivers – but made it harder than a jumping puzzle made of toothpicks to find the correct raid driver controller update – windows 7 again saying both old and new driver were the best choices heh!! I finally had to tell windows 7 to ‘take a chance’ ‘at my own risk’ to update to the latest version that intel didn’t sign, then rebooted -while squinting wondering if i would get a BSOD – I did it for science!- what a mess!! – finally updated my drive controller driver – system feels like it’s slowly getting back to speed – but no change in gw2 fps. My system is painfully up to date – firefox / adobe flash are still a trainwreck – gw2 fps still very bad – next observation is to see how gw2 acts after this event is over and these unholy event patches are hopefully removed.

I updated to the 320 driver before this beta, and GW2 did run better. However, while browsing with firefox the curser would freeze every few seconds, and the next day, when I moved the mouse to wake up my monitor, I got an error message saying something about nividia “stopped responding and recovered.”

Right away I uninstalled and went back to 314 driver, and no more freezing or locking up.

There is a feedback thread for these beta drivers, and having read through it, I see the freezing with firefox issue is still not fixed.

So I must stay at 314.

yeah, i think it’s a compatibility issue they are having with different systems… it’s running stable for me but i have an older system. – A big clue I got from reading these forums is when someone said they were able to run on xp without a problem – you would think that if anything an older os would have more problems with gw2 lag than windows 7

320 series are pretty horrible..if you dont have a 780 that is.If you have another gpu…don’t even bother, there is to much wrong with the latest batch of nvidia drivers ( Just check out geforceforums ). I’m back to 314.22,those works best for me untill nvidia pulls their head out of their kitten and are able to deliver a driver that isnt riddled with buggs for every card out there except the 780 series.
