"no shadow" textures
Are you sure you may have shadows set to none in the in game setting. doing this helps fps performance.

yeah I tried to, but static shadow looks awful – blurry and unnaturally. If they know about issue with this type of overlap textures, why they used so many of them in new dry top map? do you have same problem? maybe it’s only on nvidia graphics cards

I’ve noticed the thing you’re looking at before. They’re probably decals being used to add detail and cover seams in texturing between the heightmap terrain and the other stuff pasted on top of it. It looks like they are rendered more like spell effects on the ground and receive lighting differently from other static objects.
Which is a bit odd since this game seems to be using a deferred shading-style renderer; it could just draw the decals before doing lighting and get full shading on them, assuming it can generate sane normal vectors. Might even render slightly faster, depending on how the game’s forward shading works.
yep. there are two types of shadow in this game: static and dynamic. these bugged textures are affected only with static shadow
another problem is often different source of light or missing static shadows so dynamic shadows appear before your eyes even on ultra settings.
arenanet did very tacky job with this graphic aspect of game.
