Q:
out of memory warnings. not OOM
Sounds like what many of us experienced before the release for the 64bit client, so you might want to check if you use the 64bit or 32bit client before doing the obligatory memtest etc.
That doesn’t eliminate the possibility of a memory leak, but I think that if there was one, a lot more people would have issues with it.

I take it you are running the x64 windows and the x64 client, if so then you may indeed have a corrupted dat file which is causing a small memory leak, try and run the -repair command line and see if it works for you after the dat file is repaired.

I’ll see about the repairs. I think I’m on x64, because there’s two clients in the folder, one is gw2, the other gw2-64. I’m not sure what the difference between them is, except for the 64 one pops up a bigger version of the launcher, but I’ve been using the other one to launch.

So there you have it, you’re using the old 32bit client which can cause memory leakage.
Switch to the 64 bit.
