question
If you previously saved (authenticated) any IP addresses with email authentication, the Mobile Authentication app will recognize and remember those IP addresses, and will not prompt you to enter a code.
So, yes, it will only ask for a code when an unrecognized IP address tries to log in.
thank you very much
don’t want any strangers in my account >.>
I need help, even after I set up the authenticator the ip that tried to log in before is still getting in some how
If the IP is from TX, it is most likely you logging into the forums. You can read other threads about that particular IP address.
If it is some other IP address, you can read about securing your computer and accounts here: https://help.guildwars2.com/forums/22305053-Account-Security
Good luck.
oh really? I had no idea about that….it scared me, and it was just from the fourms
thanks this is really helpful I was worried that some how they were getting my info even though all that ><
do you have any links to threads about the ip for the forums?
I was also worried too, because when I was playing eailer I was getting lag spikes. then after a few secs later I dcd into the char selection screen and it said something like someone else is logged into that or something like that. is that just because I was lagging?

Here is one of the threads about the TX IP address: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/My-recent-connections/first#post2840473
Here is one about disconnecting and ending up on the Character Select screen: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Constant-crashes-since-the-patch/first#post4086808
You can peruse any of the Support sub-forums for more threads that may answer your questions.
Good luck.
thanks a lot all this helps so much
I read the fourm about the constant dcs, but I didn’t take a screen shot of what it said I hope it doesn’t happen again, but if it does i’ll screen shot it
I added the authenticator just to be extra safe
also I want to thank you extra for all this help, you have been super helpful and made me so much less worried ><

If you want to test the authenticator (to be sure):
- MY ACCOUNT (upper right of this page)
- SECURITY
- Remove your AUTHORIZED NETWORK IP from the list.
- Log out of this website (or the game).
- Log in here or in game (Request for Authenticator Code will display).
NOTE: If you want it to ALWAYS ask you for the code (to be sure it’s working), just do not check the “remember this network” box.

I don’t see an option to uncheck that, nor any of what you said
as in I don’t see anything authorized by me, but I set up everything step, by step as asked
You are welcome, ceces. I am glad you are feeling better.
Happy adventuring in Tyria, hope to see you there! =)
MY ACCOUNT > SECURITY should provide you with mobile authentication status, a list of current connections to the game and this site as well as a list of Authorized Networks with a REMOVE button next to each. You click the REMOVE button next to your present IP connection (so the next log in will NOT be an Authorized Network). You can then TEST the authentication by trying to log in to either this site or the game (note that you must first log out).
When the dialog to enter the authentication code comes up, there will be a REMEMBER THIS NETWORK checkbox next to the connect button. If you check it, the authentication will NOT be required again when logging from that IP address (and the IP range will be added to the AUTHORIZED NETWORK list again).
