there should be no sales tax on gem purchases from Wisconsin. the law states you’re required to collect it if and only if your company has a presence in the state. which (afaik) is untrue of arenanet. not sure who this sales tax i’m paying is going to. amazon JUST went through this and had to begin collecting sales tax here. is there an arenanet installation in Wisconsin? I’d like some transparency here…

That is incorrect. The tax law in Wisconsin requires tax be collected on many internet sales and most internet sales of digital goods.

Thank you for looking that up, ShiningSquirrel.

Herosandwich, our billing provider is really careful about taxes, making sure they collect when legally appropriate and that they not collect when not required by law.

So if sales tax is being charged in any state or region, I feel confident that the charge is correct, even if previously a player did not have a sales tax charge on their bill. However, it’s good to ask the question, and I hope this info puts your mind at ease about the charge.

Oh, and thanks for supporting the game through the Gem Store!
