relogging to fix lag
Your isp is to blame is my best bet.Since you said
“When other people use bandwith on my network”..and Then you start to lag,is a case of bad network setup or just a bad isp in general.I had the same..it got me crazy i couldnt play multiplayer games when someone else was using the 2nd pc in this house,it made all my game lag like hell, left 4 dead 2,unplayable,mmo’s made me lag as hell. Then i switched ISP ( i was having a SERIOUS crappy isp before that, dl was about 300kbps..yea i know ) Now im dling with 7 – 9 mbps.HUUUUGE difference, network lag in multiplayer games is non existant to me even if i have, for instance running bittorent on the background, and my girl is using the 2nd pc,i still do not lag.I really think its due to a crappy isp, since i had the exact same thing.

ah good point caedmon. i only get this lag around 7pm EST , and only on gw2 I live in Australia, and I get 50 ping more then other online games i play, that connect to U.S servers.
this info is probably relevant
Yeah that sucks buddy i know, maybe you can call your isp and explain when you start to lag, maybe they can see where the problem lies. And If not then i really suggest to start looking for a proper isp asap.
btw are there other games you play aswell, multiplayers ? Especially Fps ? Meaning you can test your connection by playing a fps,let someone use your second pc,and watch your ping rise.

Okay, so i tested the lag during daytime.
i got 400 ping before 7pm(220 ping is the best/normal i get) because someone is downloading on a different pc. the lag is very bearable and consistant
i get 220 ping after 7pm EST and i get rubberbanding, lag, delays. thats only reset when i change map/relog, this happens when people use bandwidth on other pc’s
i also even get an error sometimes that tells me im playing on a military base, or campus i think.
i play all other games fine after 7pm, except gw2
Hm thats pretty bad,not much you can do about it but to tell the people to stop using bandwith when your playing guild wars, but i guess thats out of the option aswell right ? This is just exactly the case with my previous ISP,it got me so frustrated. I have some commands for you to reset winsock, flush dns ,reset tcp/ip etc.

Do this on Both Pc’s

Open CMD,and type in the following commands.
1) netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
After this step, reboot your pc.Then go on with 2.
2)ipconfig /release
3)ipconfig /renew
Reboot your Pc again.
5)ipconfig /flushdns
6)netsh winsock reset catalog
Reboot your pc again.
See how your internet is now,and how guild wars plays out,i still have a small registry tweak left, wich did help me when i still had that crappy isp,it lowered my ping in Aion from around 150 to a stable 30 – 40. But ill let you give that ago when youve tried the above steps.

thanks for all the help caedmon, i did everything you told me to. No change in ping, and it did not fix my problem.
i also noticed that the lag i get after 7pm has nothing to do with other people using the internet, i get the same problems if no one else uses the internet.
so to summarise everything:
- I live in Melbourne, Australia
- Im using a netgear dgnd 3700 router
- Im with iprimus, adsl+2
- I get lag after 7pm EST
- I get the lag when gw2 is the only thing using bandwidth
- My ping doesnt change when i get the lag
- I can play full spvp match’s with no lag, then load the next map and the lag hits
- The fix’s you have given me so far did not fix the problem, but are very appreciated\
- And of course, i only get lag with guild wars 2 during these times
Bummer, sorry dude i wish had more knowledge of networking. You can try this tweak i mentioned earlier that brought my ping ( and hundreds of other people ) down with about 50 – 75 ( some even more ) and got rid of the delays i had, back in aion that is.
I dont know if you are familair with editing or adding keys in the registry,if not follow this closely to not make any mistakes.
1)Go to Start,Run,type Regedit ( now you’re in the registry )
2)On the left side click on HKEY _LOCALMACHINE_
3)Click on System
4)Click on CurrentControlSet
5)Click on Services
6)Click on TcPip
7)Click on Parameters
8)Click on Interfaces
9)Now you will see 2 folders, ( see screenshots below) but only one holds your network info. The one with all settings in it starting with Addresstype etc etc is the one you need to edit.
10)Right click on that folder wich holds all your network info, and then select New – DWORD (32bit) Value.
You will now see a new Value in that folder, right click on it and Rename it to TcpAckFrequency .Then rightclick on it,and select Modify, under Value Data you will have to enter 1 for it to be effective ( hexadecimal) . It needs to look exactly like screenshot 2.Press ok and reboot your pc.
Please let me know if this worked out.
