security suggestion for Anet
This sounds like a very good idea! Though I would include mixing the numbers up each time you hit a number: Ex: When you first log in and select your character as slycem said you will have to enter a code. A keypad comes up on the screen with numbers…
1 3 4
8 2 9 after selecting your your first number, the selection mixes up
0 5 7
6
6 5 9
1 3 8
0 2 7
4
This will add an enormous amount of security as well as prevent any keyloggers from accessing the account by position of the mouse.

yes that sounds really nice and shouldn’t be to hard to implement into the game i know a lot of games have this system now a day’s
Or better yet, have AN provide an authenticator key fob so that we can use it every single time we log into the game, forums or our accounts. In other games I use an authenticator fob to add a random sequence of numbers after I key in my password and before I am allowed access. I’ve not had any problems with this.
I would have no problem purchasing a small $5-$8 item for security purposes.

The amount they will need to spend on sorting all this out, it would have been cheaper to have just given out key fobs with each copy sold :/

That is what should be used. Dragon’s Nest does that, all that is needed.

Wait, let me try to understand what you just asked. You want an option for two passwords? One for login and one for character selection/deletion/world change?
Then to follow up: If you use the same password that was mined from another database, and the hacker successfully uses both, what’s the point?
The Pin is stored only on the game developers servers (which aren’t being breached). It also it’s effective against key loggers. Other sites would never have the pin.
Except modern keyloggers could easily record it.
For my own education. How or what are they doing to record randomly placed mouse clicks? You mouse click randomly placed numbers on the screen. Those apps should not know what those numbers are in those positions. Thanks in advance.
