Guild Wars 2

hi, I just got my copy of GW2 and installed from the 2 disc installer and I’m currently patching my game, I assume a ton of files will be downloaded since it’s been a long time since release.

the problem I’m having is that the patcher downloads very slow, it fluctuates between 10KBps to roughly 50KBps, now I’ve seen my direct download rates reach about 150-200KBps on other sources e.g. when downloading the installer exe file from the site.

any way to fix this? I know I don’t have a beast of a connection but I feel 10KBps is a bit underwhelming especially if I need to download 61,000 more files for my game.

Am running the patcher as admin on a win 7 x64 machine.

any help would be greatly appreciated, TIA.

I have cable, and a 20 meg connection, and it’s not uncommong for mine to surge for a bit, but then at times, slow all the way down to near dialup speeds. I’m not sure what is wrong with the download server but it’s been happening to me for some time.
