strange lines on floors
Do a clean uninstall of your drivers and then update to the newest version. If the problem persists, try rolling back to an earlier version.
Hi Alch – If a clean installation of your drivers (or even rolling them back to an older version) did not do the trick, could you please attach a DxDiag or Game Advisor report to the thread so we can try to figure out what’s going on here?
I’m having the exact same issue.
System Specs for ThinkStation D20:
– 2 x Intel Xeon Quad Core Processors, 8 Cores @ 2.26 GHz
– HD Radeon 7970, 3GB GDDR5, Stock Speeds
– 256GB OCZ Vertex 3 SSD (boot drive)
– 12GB Corsair DDR3 Ram, 6 × 2GB Modules, 3 per CPU, Triple Channel
Max settings except for native sampling and high instead of ultra on shadows.
Lowering settings doesn’t seem to change anything as far as fps or bugs go.
Latest drivers (12.8 and CAP2)

Having the same Issue, that weird lines in Citys an Caves. Have a AMD RADEON HD7970
from the people who are posting, I assume this means its a compatibility issue with the hd radeon 7xxx drivers? I can’t be certain, but that seems to be the trend.
My card: ATI 7970
and I have these lines too
please, let us know about a fix or solution for this annoying texture bug
Try turning the catalyst AI off/down and see if you still get them?
Turning catalyst AI down don´t solved this problem for me
Any solution yet?
I also have these strange lines in caves and citys. I have hd 7970
I wish I had that GPU so I could play with the driver settings on this. It looks like the rendering is misaligning the texture faces. I use to work on FPS engine games/mods (Quake2 & 3 total conversions, OpenGL not DX though) and had to correct this exact problem. It turned out to be a driver setting work around and a rendering adjustment in a patch to permanently fix it.
Maybe try experimenting with some settings and see if you can correct it temporarily, then report the setting that helped?
Deactivating Catalyst AI won´t help, I don´t know about any other settings to turn down or on…

Same issue (7870 GHz edition). Happens on non-oc or oc settings.
Screenshot attached, and I do have many of these screenshots with this “bug” visible.
Catalyst AI fully disabled (scoured the Registry and changed all hex/strings to fully disable this crap, too). Running 12.8 WHQL.
Yeah, I get that too, among other problems, and I have an AMD HD 7700, it does seem like that’s the trend here…
I’ve tried tweaking every setting in CCC, to no avail.
I’ve tried the CAP2, no change.
No graphic setting in game rly deals with tessellation….
I’m at a loss, until AMD acknowledges this in a driver update, I don’t see an easy solution.
Also there seams to be an issue with ground clutter not rendering at certain camera angles.
Along with this bug, I’m also seeing a very jarring issue with the camera at the moment. Whether or not free cam is on (this setting doesn’t change anything for me), my camera always zooms into my character’s polygons whenever there’s any kind of wall or gathering node or character or mob or scenery behind me. It’s getting really annoying, since I’m getting headaches from it.
Running a Radeon HD 7750 in Windows XP(32-bit) with i3 540, 3.24 GB RAM and can confirm same issue. More noticable for me in dungeons.

Yay i have been having this problem since release i have a 7970 as well :P it only really happens in caves and instances etc
here is a Dxdiag https://dl.dropbox.com/u/57290085/DxDiag.txt
and here is the GW2 -Diag command https://dl.dropbox.com/u/57290085/gw2%20diag.txt
hope this helps

Only 1 posted their dxdiag until now…

its funny it was not until a few days ago i new something was wrong , i thought everyone was getting it :P, then i mentions to my friends and they was like erm…no, and guys get your Diags up if you want this sorted :P
Has anyone tried rolling back to older drivers?
Why is it necessary to post tons of DXDiags for a bug that has been screenshotted SEVERAL times, across completely different systems, and is also a trend on ATI cards? It isn’t a hardware issue per se – possibly the drivers; but again posting a DXDiag here isn’t going to get ATI to fix their shoddy drivers any quicker. Pretty sure A.Net knows what’s up and they’re running us through hoops until they 1) fix the issue (assuming it’s an engine bug) 2) ATI releases non-poop drivers. Now, if you want to make ATI aware of this issue, please see: http://www.amdsurveys.com/se.ashx?s=5A1E27D20B2F3EBF
That is for reporting issues with 12.8.
FYI – This issue seems prevelant mostly in “indoor locations” – caves, houses/buildings, dungeons, etc. I am pretty sure I’ve seen it a few times outdoors, but is much more easy to find in an “indoor” location.

It seems to be an issue whenever the floor textures are at “sea level” aka a flat surface as apposed to a hilly region with a grass texture. Whenever there are polygons on the ground it isn’t an issue. When its a texture on a flat surface the gridlines are very apparent. I’ve also noticed other issues with the HD 7xxx Drivers.

This could very well be true and requires more investigation. Next time I see the lines I will take note of the terrain. You guys should too, and report back here on your findings.
I submitted a report to AMD, I’ll check in here if I get an e-mail or any kind of update from them.
I have a 7950 but I don’t have this problem. Using 12.8 WHQL driver.
I do get the occasional flickering textures though.
I´m using 12.8 WHQL driver with CAp 2 too, but with this strange lines on the floors….
Using this driver version wizhout CAP 2 don´t resolved this problem
Download cap2 also, nothing changed, flackering and strange lines unchanged in every Cave, House, City.
Anyone Exp. with driver 12.9 (unofficial Beta). Hope so they will fix it, a lot of gamefun is destroyed by this
Sad me cry
I have this issue intermittently. 7870, latest drivers, windows 7 and windows 8. Has only happened a couple times. Usually everything is fine.
Still not changed or Fixed n’or a reply that they are working on it. >Push<
Now running 12.8 cap 3 and the issue persists…
Can we get a community rep to respond on this? We were told it was being worked on, but have not heard a peep in over 2 weeks.
Anyone with this issue tried the unofficial 12.9? There are some reports for increased GW2 performance.

Tried 12.9 a week ago, didn’t changed anything. I think Arenanet muss configure this ingame, lets hope they notice this Bug & will take care of it!
I couldn’t care less about more performance, not at least until they get all these graphical glitches sorted out. I had no issues with 4890, now with my brand new 7870 I have strange black lines on the ground, terrain/geometry flashing, etc. and it’s driving me NUTS.
I had this same issue a week ago (Radeon HD 7850) . Rolling back the drivers to 12.6 solved it for me.
Can somebody confirm this?

I think you mean 12.8 since that’s the newest version? And the beta is even older than that…
…but yeah, major gfx issues with 12.8 I think, at least on the newer cards.

No i meant 12.9, it’s the inofficial Beta. Can download it on Gw2Guru or something like that.
I’ve noticed this issue with some other games.
I guess you’ve already did, but have you tried disabling all anti-aliasing options completely?
It worked for me whenever I saw it appear in other games.
I’m starting to think that AMD may have issues (driver-related) with their implementations of Tessellation and also possibly Geometry/Occlusion Culling (hence the disappearing terrain – I’ve seen this EXACT issue running Unigine Heaven on my 7870). Hoping they get this junk straightened out ASAP.
Again, PLEASE report these issues to ATI/AMD! Here is the link:
is it only me, or are the Flackers getting worse?
Would be extremly nice if an Arenanet employee could answer if this is a Gameerror or AMD, since no one is taking charge for it.
I am getting the same problems. Huge white symbols will pop in from time to time for what seems to be one frame. I’ve had lines on the floor doing dungeons too, and fighting the Claw of Jormag the other day, there was a long brown bar going from a player to one of the ice crystals. Very strange.
I tried to roll back to 12.6, but had the same issues. I would like to know if it’s AMD or Anet.
I am using a Radeon 7870, by the way. The huge white artifacts that pop up seem to be worse at times. Other times I won’t see them for nearly an hour. Perhaps it’s only in certain areas. It seemed like I saw more when I was in Ascalon.
That issue occurs when an incompatible filtering is applied and corrupts the edges of tiled textures.
its an AMD driver bug, pure and simple.
It has affected other games in the past, but been fixed by CAP updates.
In the meantime, disable any Catalyst filtering, such as Antialiasing, Anisotropic and Bi/Tri-linear.

12.10 and nothing has changed …. yay!!!!
