unable to verify GW2 executable
Same here,,, try to fix with no luck
Hi! I’m having this same problem. Thought I’d list some of the things I tried:
1) Running GW2.exe as Admin.
2) Moving GW2.exe and renaming GW2.tmp and running that.
3) Deleting GW2.exe and attempting to reinstall to another directory (the setup .exe also gives an “unable to verify” error.)
I just want to know, is that error from my own copy of the game, or is it a server issue?
I’ve had this error yesterday after restarting the client for a certain update. Made a quick checkup on how to fix this and somehow Guild Wars 2 was nowhere to be found in Programs and Features. I’ve tried copying it’s files to a new location and it worked.
Again, I had the same problem today but the game was available in the Uninstall/Repair list. Sadly, I’ve accidentally uninstalled it (in hopes that a repair feature would be available). I was surprised that the whole root folder disappeared in a second with no progress bar shown.. Now, I have to re-download the entire game -sigh-
RIP data threshold limit ._.
Don’t worry, you’re not alone. I’ve been struggling to find a fix for this. I also did the same setup as deleting the gw2.exe and renaming gw2.tmp to exe extension. but nothing..
I was in middle of the game when the client decided to crash.. sigh* I might as well uninstall then reinstall the game
Managed to fix mine:
I copied gw2.dat to a second folder, deleted the original folder, uninstalled the program, reinstalled, then put the original gw2.dat back in the folder.

can you elaborate? what program did you uninstall? or did you mean the whole game?
Edit:
will do what Madhab did, gonna make a backup of gw2.dat and uninstall the whole game, reinstall then put .dat back in the folder

this worked just move guildwars2 files where you first installed the game on the desktop or w/e reinstall the game wait for it to fully install then move your guildwars2 original folder replace the new one and it patches up for a bit and you have your game back
Exactly, can confirm this is a hassle free method. just make a backup copy of your Gw2.dat file from the Guild wars 2 folder.
Folder location should be something like “C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2” if you installed it in C drive, otherwise check where you installed it at.
uninstall the game either manually (deleting the whole folder) or by using add/remove program (Recommended).
Go to guildwars2 website, download the client, then install the game where ever you like, then re-copy Gw2.dat back into the folder and go play the game!
thanks to madhab.
Worked here too
just copy the current GW2.dat to a new freshly installed game (before it gets patched)
Thanks to Madhab
