i have crashed five times since playing. i have installed the recommended beta drivers for my geforce 450 video card and i still crash. it plays fr about 15-20 minutes and then i crash with a “video card error”

Sounds like an overheating issue. Is your graphics card adequatelly cooled.

it should be. i only have a problem with this game. all my other games work fine.

yes it is. i just checked and my card is stable at about 42 degrees celsius.

you may want to redues your fram rates . the game is defulated to have unlimatde . i set mine for 60 and lost a lot of het

that didn’t help. it still did it. but my gpu is up to 59c

Try lowering your setting first and use window mode to monitor your CPU/GPU temps.

i did that. i have a feeling my gpu is overheating. i might have to put in a case fan near it to keep it cool.

GW2 uses now 100% of your video card. I saw mine shoots up to 89C I lowered some of the settings or get a better cooling for it. Remember to limit your fps may shave off some temps as well.

Does your case have a side fans? Cheap solution would open side panel put a fan in it down side would be you need to clean your PC regularly from dust.

Also it might not be the video card per se it might be some hardware as well like your powersupply not feeding enough power to the videocard/motherboard. Did you bought your system bundled?

it was bundled but i bought an upgraded power supply because the bundled one was crappy. i bought a Coolmax M-500B 500W ATX12V/Core i3/i5/i7 PSU .

Oops forgot you got an outdated driver. Kindly http://www.nvidia.com/object/win8-win7-winvista-64bit-306.02-beta-driver.html. Also do a custom install then pick perform Clean installation.
