first of all i enjoyed my time playing gw2 so far. it’s a great game no doubt and i really like it. but sadly i dont have time to play it anymore and i just deleted all of my toons 1 month ago. the other day i created 1 2 toons just to see the game again but i just don’t wanna waste my time anymore, because it consumes my time really.

now i just wanna delete my account permanently and i couldnt find any option neither thru the gw2panel nor on this site. so i petitioned a ticket. thanks to the dev who reply me it only took 1 day for them to reply. but my problem just starts?

because he/she said that escaleting my ticket for further review? why? i simply asked them to delete my account and now they just wanna review the issue?

also it’s really a must to put an ‘delete/close account’ option in account menu. i know other games has that option but why don’t gw2 has it too?

There is no such option, since no such options is needed.

You might want to quit now, but GW2 is built in such a way so you can change your mind and come back in 3 years without doing anything other than logging in.

There is also the issue with such an option that people might use it by mistake, and thus lose out on an account forever.

Why would you want to delete the account? Simply uninstall and walk away. As lordkrall said, maybe you will want to come back after a year or three. Right now you are taking up support’s time and costing ANet money with this request. That’s a poor way to pay them back for a game you enjoyed.

Really, just tell them you don’t need further help. Close out the ticket, uninstall. Walk away. Anything else is just selfish.

really? i believe you didnt understand my point. first of all as long as my account is active i will come back again and again which i do not want to. cause it consumes my time and i don’t wanna waste my time anymore. ive tried to delete all of my toons yet i returned. that is why i want to delete my account if you know what i mean.

and it’s really so funny to see you saying ‘no such options is needed’ because it is my account and i know what ‘my account’ needs to have. also it’s again funny that you say ‘There is also the issue with such an option that people might use it by mistake’ because it’s a simple task. put an option as ‘delete my account’ and if someone needs to delete it they simply click it. and then Anet can send them an auto message like ‘do you really want to delete your account?, are you sure bla bla’ and with further instructions one can delete the account safely with no problems at all.

but no because they just don’t want you to delete your account i can understand that. but since i just requested my account to be deleted, i still didnt understand that why they wanna review the so called ‘issue’, it’s not an issue, its a request..

besides thanks for your concern really guys but I do need their help to close my account. isnt it simple to understand really?

CS may or may not assist you with your request. They usually deny this request. If they do deny it, you really can’t hold them accountable for one’s lack of personal responsibility in refraining from playing a game. You might want to seek help elsewhere. Good luck. =)

As others have said, there is no reason to delete an account.
You purchased the game and have a right to play it, by deleting your account, you would in effect no longer have access to something you purchased and that could cause legal issues for Anet. A game like GW2 with no subscription is not the same as a game where you have to pay monthly.
Also, there is no reason to post here. You opened a ticket, so you need to go through support, no one here can answer your question or help you. It is also discouraged opening a ticket and then immediately posting it here on the forums as well.

If you have a physical copy you can always:

  • Snap and melt your install disc
  • Burn your manual and your serial code on it so you will never be able to load your game again.
  • Uninstall

Or digital:

  • Delete email that contains your serial code
  • Uninstall

Only other real way to close your account so it can never be used again is to be caught botting or something and banned. (not suggesting doing that, just saying, ban is as good as deleted – I don’t think one can actually request a ban from support)

So you are basically demanding that ArenaNet does something because you can’t control yourself?

And yes, there will be mistakes made (or people changing their minds and then demanding that ArenaNet recreates the account), no matter how many confirmations people get.

There is also the issue with someone getting hold of your account details and would thus be able to delete your account.

The reason why support is having a problem with your request is probably because they can’t delete the account without giving you your money back.

Just make up a new extremely long and random password. Don’t write it down or remember it. Delete your email with account information like the serial number. Then uninstall. Walk away.

You are tying up support’s time and resources which could otherwise be used to help people with real problems as well as costing ANet money.

Players may request for account deletions, but that has to be done through Customer Support. But even though that option is available, as others have pointed out, you can just walk away and not log in anymore.

If you bought you account directly from ArenaNet’s website, and it was less than six months ago, you could ask for a refund.

That will close your account if granted.

I suggest you simply uninstall the game and move on.
