I am in the same position and as of today I can no longer play GW2. And I take umbrage to the forum moderators that keep merging threads that are not related, please do not merge this thread, with the ‘Verify’ thread, this is a different issue relating solely to the use of @plaync @ncsoft log ins.
I’m a little disheartened because we have no word on this, and consequently are unable to log in to the game. This not being a subscription game one cannot cancel ones sub, so how do we get the attention of the developers, and not be ‘merged’ and lost in other threads.

I’m sure they’re doin’ the best they can for us as quick as they can. Just imagine if you were workin’ there right now bein’ on of moderators doin’ this. They can’t exactly give us any exact information or anything since it could end up backing firing later with statements like “Well why wasn’t this fixed by X or at least Y?”. I’m in the same boat as you, Sam.9157, and my post was almost merged but I think we just gotta try to tough it out for now.
If you’re unwillin’ to do that, you could try tricking your way around it (though I’m too scared to). In that you can change your email to another email account you own, then try to log in, or even change it back to the original and try after that. I’m just afraid it’ll mess with things in a bad way, so I’m stuck surfing the internet while I wait for a fix. :P
Same problem here. I cannot pick my real e-mail address to verify because the dialog box says it’s already in use. Gee.
I’m going to wait, I wish to continue to use my @plaync address, as I feel it’s more secure than using an email address, while there is little security on our accounts. As i mentioned in my post on the thread thats now been merged… email address are fine for WoW because they have behind the scenes security and authenticators.
The lack of customer service is disheartening, that’s all. I appreciate they cannot tell us in great detail what is wrong, but some kind of acknowledgment and regular updates that we have not been forgotten, would not go amiss.
Yer point on avoidin’ usin’ yer email ta log in fer security reasons is a fair enough one. I’d say that them mergin’ posts, at least slightly related, means they’re payin’ some kind of attention to us. I guess my point was less ta justify what they’re doin’ and is more of a “it could be worse” kinda post. While isn’t not exactly helpful, bein’ a bit more optimistic could at least keep us in better spirits till we get ta play again; and man do I wanna play again. ;p
I only wish I kinda had a bit more insight ta what’s goin’ on over there, just ta put it in better perspective fer me. I can’t even begin ta imagine how stressful things must be. >.<
Indeed, I get the feeling (I’ve been thinking this for a couple weeks) that they [ArenaNet] are overwhelmed, in every department, almost to the point of indecision. I don’t think they anticipated what being a AAA mmo is like, and I don’t think they expected the amount of bugs and problems that have occurred (which to us as gamers, we expect).
That’s the feeling I get anyway, and thats why I fear they are being so silent… they don’t know what to say, to whom, or about what. I hope that MoP will alleviate a lot of the pressure, and given ArenaNet time to catch it’s breath so to speak. The ArenaNet we ‘see’ now, is not the same on that we saw in GW1 or leading up to GW2.

ya im in the same boat. Arenanet is awesome and by no means am im leaving this game just because of a little hiccup. they’re are an awesome company that puts the customer and fun first and they have molded the MMO community into bigger and better things.
I fully understand how overwhelmed they are with all the account hacks and what not going on that this is probably on the back burner lol.

day 2 of being unable to play and validate my email that linked to this site/GW2 and GW1 through NCsoft. Which is the email you guys sent my beta invite and sign up too lol.

I’ve had this issue since release day (despite everything working fine in BWEs), and have had 2 tickets closed and “locked” by ANet regarding it. I don’t hold much hope at this point.
My GW1 account name was changed – without warning – in the process of trying to make GW2 accessible, and because they’ve disabled email address changes at the moment, it’s impossible to change it back. So, now both my GW1 and GW2 accounts are less secure than they should be. Not a happy camper.
I also would like to have an official word about this, even a ‘we are working on it, no current ETA’ would be enough.
I’ve made a support ticket about the specific ncsoft/
plaync issue when they first implemented the optional authentication, but I never got an acceptable reply, but because the service was optional I didn’t press it. They’ve since closed it without actually resolving the issue, so I’ve now made another ticket about the same issue, but I’m not particularly hopeful. It would be nice if this would at least be aknowledged as a specific separate issue, because so far all my posts regarding this have been merged with people having issues getting their mail.
Hearing about all the current problems with accounts, email authentication, and network authentication mail etc makes me more hesitant to try and resolve the problem with having an @ncsoft account (and not being able to play GW2 anymore because of that) by changing it to a new email.
Why wont the GW2 client authenticate the email already associated and verified for the account from the GW1 account details?
