A person on the Mac forums said they had this issue and he said “changing the language in the top right corner caused the whole patch to re-download and complete” he did note that Spanish did not work, but French did. Try to let the file download completely before switching back to your default language. (the devs recommend waiting 10-20 minutes, but some peeps have reported it taking overnight plus several more hours)
This may or may not work for you guys, but maybe if a dev sees it, it could help then to troubleshoot this issue.

This happened to me as well. I changed my language to German and it started downloading. At the end it stopped at 99% for a few minutes, but eventually completed. After the Play button illuminated I switched the language back to English and it worked fine. Hope this helps.

Hi ronpierce – I’d like you to first locate and delete your local.dat file which is located in your Documents > Guild Wars 2 folder. Once this is done, reboot your computer and launch Guild Wars 2 again. After seeing the 1 file remaining message, a secondary protocol should kick in to download the file from the backup system, usually takes about 10 minutes.
If after 15 minutes or so and the download doesn’t kick in, I’d try the workaround suggested by other players which would be to change the language for the launcher (at the top right corner) and see if the download completes. You can change it back to your original language once it does and you should be able to log in and play again.

Sorry, I hadn’t replied yet, I tried the Germany language swap, and this worked for me. Thanks for the replies.

So you have to re-download it ALL when you swap to German? Because the deleting local.dat, and rebooting and waiting for 20 min did nothing….
