Guild Wars 2

Ever since a couple patches ago, my client is downloading 10 MB every single time I start it. It appears to be exactly the same data every time (10289 KB), and it happens before showing the Account Name/Password screen, so no bar like with a larger patch. Has this been happening for anyone else? It’s not a huge deal, just seems kinda wasteful for them to be sending me the same file of that size a few times a day.

I get that sometimes too. Maybe they are trickle downloading incremental segments for a future patch.

I am having exactly the same problem. Every single startup, and it only happens on my laptop, but not my desktop PC.

I have a question for you guys – did you move your gw2 folder? Because mine is doing this EVERYTIME I start gw2 but I think it may have started when I moved the folder to a different hard drive – this was near the release of GW2 – and does not happen to my friends who did not move theirs

Mine does this pretty much every time I open the launcher. Just assumed it was checking it had the necessary files to run. I think PlanetSide 2 does something similar. Although I could be wrong and these could be incremental updates, IDK.

this would indicate your client is not saving the local.dat file for some reason.

just go to your documents folder and search for " guild wars 2 " .
open and you can see " local.dat " file .
copy and paste it there , delete the original and rename the copy to match the original’s name .
solved it for me . gl

that hapend to me just update your video driver…

This is happening to me, and I did indeed move my GW2 folder to a different drive.

I tried both copying and renaming it as you suggest, and also just deleting it for it to be recreated. The issue remains.
