It’s a packet loss issue support will tell you then they will tell you to call your ISP after they ask you to run ping plotter and game advisor report tool. Try hardreset your router press and hold for 30 sec then let router reboot, and power cycle your modem, check your cables. make sure ports are open. In all honesity it wouldn’t hurt to call your ISP to come out and make sure everything is fine. It’s what I had to do to fix this issue for me. Before you say it’s not on your end you may be suprised like I was. It was a bad RJ45 connection outside in the box!

I don’t mean to sound rude here, yes it may be your provider and you just don’t know it or want to hear that it might be. I’ve said the same thing when I was having the same exact issue as you “It’s not my ISP etc” Like I said above I was wrong and it with my ISP. You don’ know with 100% certainty it’s the games fault and you won’t know what the problem is unless you go through trouble shooting process yourself and or have your ISP come to make sure as process of elimination of possible causes to your issue and no just posting here on the forum is going to fix your issues by itself.

you can start with Downloading pingplotter and run it then Download Game Advisor Diagnostic Report

I’ve been having the same exact issue and its not my ISP. Looking at pingplotter, packet loss is happening at servers from level3.net. That has nothing to do with TWC.

I was getting this error last night on my second computer. My personal computer worked find never disconnected, my Fiance’s brand new computer I built with a fresh OS install was having all the problems. About every 5-10 mins her computer was getting disconnected. We are both on wifi on the other side of the room. No problems with the internet, no lag just random disconnecting for her. After about an hour of trying to play I logged off and she didn’t have another problem, she played around for about 30-45 mins.
Any Ideas?

Hiii the problem dont came from our config. I’m in france. and i’m playing with my wife.

I have a i7 2700k and Ati 7970.
My wife’s got a laptop with a i7 3770k Gforce 650M

And we’re disconnected after HUUUUUUGE lags where ppl are “dumb” and jump over the cliffs xD and … No It’s “only” a error 7…

I’m in France server Fort Ranik. And it’s still buggy and laggy as hell.

I think for the first birthday present they put lag who’s present in the release of 25 August 2012 :P

I cant do the living story 45 minutes without beeing disconnected is impossible for me…

Dont change u’r router u’r filter or anything else the issue came from Anet…

Ehj , in Pve its easy and dungeons but in wvw its a mess ! Nobody can give me back on que or teleport to the commander ! Have to re-que re-run for 10 min so in 5 min i dc again ! In pve ask for party and even if you reconnect on overflow right click on name and teleport to main map !

If, from your previous post, you are having packet loss further upstream; its not their issue either. If that level3 is causing packloss, you’re screwed.

Yep, Xystus is 100% correct. Lost packets through the L3 backbones. We can do nada but sit and wait for those guys to fix it

Yup! I’ve been getting this error for weeks now. I have been through Arenanet’s support channels and the conclusion was packet loss.
I’m currently in the middle of tech support with my ISP.
My pingplotter report shows ~6% packet loss from my computer to my router (wireless connection although it could be the cause) and ~92.5% from one of the Frankfurt L3 servers. I’ll continue troubleshooting my end but man… that’s a lot of packet loss that’s not my end. Just sayin’!
If it is the L3 server that is the cause, can us or Arenanet do anything at all?

If it’s packet loss somewhere in the chain between user’s ISP and Arenanet then the only people that can do something about it is Arenanet. Your ISP will simply ignore you and wash their hands of any packet loss issues that aren’t on their own hardware. Blizzard often has to chase down packet loss issues themselves because of this. Expecting players to spend what is literally hours on the phone to their ISP for a problem their ISP almost certainly is not responsible for is ridiculous.

I just started getting these disconnects tonight. Never ever happened before. Only thing that’s changed is a patch when I loaded the game tonight.

Maybe of interest: so far all but one of the disconnects have been in personal story instances, and always where there is a transition to the next stage of that instance (heading towards the “green star” etc)

The only other one was just now leaving Divinity’s Reach through the portal to Queensdale. The portal simply wouldn’t work for a bit (same issue with triggering the entrance to story instances btw) then when it did, disconnected.

In the story instance just before, there was no immediate sign of disconnection. NPC did his speech and the game moved on to “kill the assassins” – but there was nothing there to kill. After about 20-30 seconds, suddenly BAM five enemies in my face and insta-dead.

Edit: while typing this, got disconnected just standing still in Queensdale.

My connection, by the way, is 100Mbps fibre.

Also, loading into the area around Minister’s Waypoint repeatedly has the surrounding area rendering in “layers” – NPCs walking in mid-air till the surface they’re walking on is rendered etc. Only happens there.

I am getting all of the above on a regular basis now (the bank thing and divinity’s reach thing happens every time i go there), and I cannot do any story quest, or i suspect any instance. Every time I enter a story quest or instance 10 to 30 seconds in I get this error and i disconnect to the login screen without fail.

I am on a college network so it could be packet loss, but I played 5 months after release with no issues, and I only started having problems after one of the August patches. Its something A-Net changed or something else I don’t know about, but unless it quits the new Adventure Box will be literally impossible for me to play. Which is unfortunate, because I am kinda enjoying the game right now.

I can’t really do anything ISP wise anyway, since college network. I know them, and they don’t care.

EDIT: And I don’t have problems with any other game. 20 to 30ms ping in most games with east coast servers, no jitter, no lag, no disconnects. GW2 is the only game I have with any sort of issue.

I have this problem constantly. I have talked to my ISP multiple times and the issue is still very consistent. Within ten minutes of logging in I get forced out. Does anyone know when this will be fixed or if there is anything I can do?

Supposedly ANet runs a dual set of servers to allow for no downtime patching.

This by patching one set, directing new logins there, and patching the other set once it has been emptied of players.

What i wonder is if one of the sets have a networking issue somewhere.

This because i had the issue during one living story update, not another, and now it is back again.

The symptoms are that the game will at some point freeze up (no skills triggering, no npcs moving and so on) and either it will catch up (indicating that the packets are buffered somewhere) or the server will boot me to character select with a :191: error.

Having the same problem here too. Game was running fine using my laptop and wireless connection about 3 months ago. Took a break, came back to the game this week, and now I can’t go more than 20 mins before I get DC’ed with the 7:11:3:191:101-error. Rest of my online games work fine, and my internet connection (for me and anyone else in the house on the WiFi) is fine, Seems to be just when playing GW2 I get these DC’s.

Personal story can’t progress, as it always DC’s before I can finish it.
