SLI is more hassle than it’s worth. And more of a gimmick to sell more cards. You get about 30%-50% more performance (most games) for 100% more of the cost. If you want good performance with minimum problems, get an OCed version of the card, preferably by gigabyte, MSI or asus.

Sorry that no one here can help you.

Dont be condescending. If we have the info I requested we can probably help him better.

SLI is a ‘gimmick’ in some areas, sure. But you do get performance gains from it, and it DOES work with this game.

Game company can’t check with the Nvidia corporation for the issue you’re experiencing. You may have a defective 780TI.

A game doesn’t need to be written to support multi GPUs, however how effective it is does depend on how a game is written. It also depends on how much time it takes the GPU to accomplish it’s work relative to how much time it takes the CPU to accomplish it’s work in rendering a frame.

But since there are times in this game where CPU performance is the limiting factor, multiple GPUs doesn’t really help.

I’d assume myself that SLI and Crossfire are both not supported forthis game but that don’t mean you won’t get any increase of performance at all. Crossfire’s not supported and I get a mighty boost in FPS having it on. Probs because of my i7 though.

Both SLI and Crossfire support this game, However this game MIGHT not support either of them. Just like how eyefinity works but isnt officially supported (Last I looked).

BUT OP – you NEED to list your system specs, your OS version, and supply a crash log from the game. Even though it kinda sounds like the Black screen of death that alot of players report. SO you might want to start with SLI disabled on an older Nvidia driver and get the game WORKING, THEN enable SLI and go from there.

As the 780Ti is a new card is it possible there is no profile for GW2 yet for SLI.

I wouldn’t think you would see any performance boost with SLI on that card anyway given that 1 of them can destroy this game on its own.

Just curious but what version of these cards do you have?

I wasn’t being condescending, I geniunely feel sorry for the guy. Yes I know that it does give a boost, I’m just saying that it isn’t worth the cost and hassle. Every MMO I have played I hear of SLI problems. Mainstream games like CoD not so much.

Like I said, you pay 100% more, but don’t get 100% better performance. = gimmick.

SLI Is officially supported,Nvidia has SLi profiles for this game, you can check that using NvidiaInspector.A game with a SLI profile, means the game supports SLI,no matter how you put it.The increase in fps in this game with sli isn’t a huge increase since the game is heavy on the cpu.For people saying SLI is a “Gimmick”…Get a clue please, there is no hassle with SLI at all ( Its not 2005 anymore ),i dont ever have any problems with my sli setup whatsoever.,in most games with “proper” sli support and where games arnt completely taxing out your cpu you can def see a double in fps increase.Just because you"hear" of people with problems, doesn’t mean its the fault of sli itself, usually the fault sits infront of the pc.

Anyway OP,I dont know how technical you are,but you might want to see if both cards are enabled in your bios and are set to PEG/PCI.Make sure their both seated correctly ( Just pull out your gpu’s and slide them in again carefully till you hear a click noise, Dont force it ),make sure the SLI BRIDGE is connected ! ( a thing people tend to forget or oversee ).ALso make sure SLI is enabled in the Nvidia Control Panel by setting it to Maximize 3D Performance, and you put Physx to GPU 2.

Btw,do other games work properly using your SLI setup ?

Of course an i7-3970X. Another huge waste of money. Let me guess, OC with a 240mm liquid cooling system as well. Somebody really sold you a bill of goods. I could easily build a pair of decent systems for the cost of that one. Maybe even three.

Let’s see, a $1200 CPU and $1400 in video cards. Bet they sold you on 32GB of ultra fast ram and a RAID 0 SSD set up as well.

All of that doesn’t help all that much with this game when it gets CPU bound in a WvW zerg.

That’s some nice hardware you have, FTisLAND. Certainly have me a bit on the jealous side. However if you’re experiencing lower FPS with SLI on, try with it off and see if your FPS improves. Also, try switching your 780TI around so the secondary one is being used as primary, If no video comes from it, it’s dead and you need’a RMA it. Dead or faulty rather but still an RMA might be necessary.

@ op are you sure your pcie speeds are correct? for a z87 board you should be running x8 x8 or for a x79 board you should be at x16 x16. Make sure your cards are in the proper ports as some boards only run with x16/0/x16/0 instead of x16/x16/0/0 also make sure everything including the sli bridge is seated properly in the correct positions.

SLI works fine in gw2 and isnt a gimmick by any means, but its only useful in certain situations. There is overhead system costs and you should only use it if you need the extra graphical horsepower for super high resolutions. ie 4k or multi monitor

I just rebuilt this week and upgraded to a pair of titan blacks pushing 3 Dell U3011 Ultrasharps @ 7650×1600. At that resolution anything less than 2 top end cards, you get less than playable frames with high shaders and textures and supersampling

After upgrading my monitors from 5760×1200 to 7650×1600, I decided to rebuild my machine because I was getting less than 60fps (w/vsync) in non cpu capped situations. I went with titans and not 780 tis becasue 3gb vram isnt always enough for 7650×1600 in some games.

The 2011 socket is necessary if you want to run both cards in at x16 though the difference from 2 running at x8 is minimal for the moment though that may change. Cost wise its about the same for a x79 or a z87 board with similar features at 200-250 usd. The 3960x is a bit overkill, im personally using a i7 4820K @ 4.2 with a h100i water cooler.

32 or even 64 GB ram isnt a terrible thing to do as using a ram disk does give a boost to performance. But due to advent and price drops of SSD’s the performance gain is now a lot smaller and not very value oriented.
