I didn’t know GW2 is extremely CPU intensive.
I’ve reset my CPU back to stock and I lose a lot of FPS with it. It’s an Intel 3930K Sandy Bridge-E 8 cores 16 HT.
Stock CPU:
3.8Ghz ~33-45FPS…
Overclocked CPU:
4.6Ghz ~55-160FPS…
I’m on GTX680 SLI + 306.02 Beta driver.
So by changing the CPU frequency does greatly affect the performance. Even changing the graphic setting from Ultra to Low on Stock CPU. It does not affect the FPS at all more like no effects.
Is there something I am missing?
Looks like I’m going to be sticking to high overclocking in order for me to run the game 60FPS+. Really weird, other games including Crysis 2, Metro 2033 and etc. don’t have this issues with CPU clock speed.
Speaking of bottleneck, no there is none on other games really. Also not many games utilize more than 3-4 cores. Also I know the nvidia driver still have no support for SLI. I ran without SLI mode still give the same performances.
Game resolution: 2560 × 1440.

I can overclock my 3930k to 5GHz and my 680 Classfied to 1350Mhz and still cant pull 55 fps.

Yeah, I’m still waiting for Nvidia driver to optimize for GW2. But right now, it’s odd how the CPU affects so much of the FPS. Changing to Low setting, my game still run 30-45FPS.
It just doesn’t make any senses, stock setting of my rig is still 2x more powerful than laptop or other retail computer that is able to run the game ~45-55FPS on low.
Something is glitching, I’m not sure.

Well the 1st Guild Wars took about a month of patches before everything started to calm down. I wasn’t expecting to go through the same thing again lol.

Ha Ha Ha, you mean 6core/12threads…. Yes GW2 is very cpu intensive.
Also SLi is working very well.

GW2 seems to make use of all available resources… im on a stock ivy bridge i5 and it uses 70-95% cpu but only ever peaks at 35-50% GPu…. go figure…. maybe ArenaNet are AMD lovers??

Sli is not working well at all,ive played more Cpu bound games ,but enabling sli would Always gave me huge fps hit no matter what settings. In guild wars putting the settings to low wont even change the fps that much, enabling SLI wont give me more then 5fps boost maybe.SLI is absolutely Not working as intended, and nividia needs to release a better profile for it.
