if you experienced some game freezes or the game is not starting at all, try backing up gw2.dat and reinstall guild wars 2. that way, you won’t download all the patches you need. second, if you just reinstalled or you have a working gw2.exe, try backing it up. if you experience freezes and the game not starting, just paste your backed up gw2.exe and try playing again. i have tried this because i had a backup of my fresh gw2.dat and i experienced sound errors and the game freezes. probably cuz i just put a customized soundtrack. i pasted my gw2.exe and it worked again. i hope this can save the time of some players.

Or you can make a shortcut of the Gw2.exe, name it as Guild Wars 2 Repair. Then right mouse click the shortcut and go to properties. A window will appear. Under the Shortcut tab, you can see something like this:

Target: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe”

Change that line to this:

Target: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair

Click OK and then run the shortcut.

repair doesn’t work sometimes.

Does not work for me, because it is not my side. My computer works fine. The only solution appears to be not to play Guild Wars 2.
