Newest AVAST antivirus scans “…\awesomium_process.exe” for malware. I know this process funcions as web browser for TP, but I can’t get it working correctly and my TP is not loading few times a day

Anyone knows what to do?

Same problem here. I also use avast and it is preventing the TP from loading.
The weird thing is other applications and games that use awesomium work perfectly for me. For me the problem seems to be that ‘Guild wars 2’ puts the awesomium files in a ’temp’’ folder (usually something like:
C:\Users\<uername>\AppData\Local\Temp\gw2cache-{some numbers here}\*

A (temporary) solution is to find that folder on your computer and add it to your ‘exclusions’ list in avast and see if it works for you too.
(The general exclusions list is under ‘settings — antivirus’ and scroll down a bit in that screen. I don’t have avast installed in english so naming might be different.)
(If GW2 ever creates a new foldername (with different numbers in the foldername) and the TP stops working again, you may need to repeat the process)

That’s very odd. Do you guys have the free or paid versions of Avast? My Avast is not showing up any kind of threat from the awesomium process.

You guy’s didn’t happen to set the Sensitivity of the active shields to a higher level?

I have the free version. Since i play always in windowed mode i saw a popup from avast that it was deepscreen scanning the awsonium.exe. After some seconds when it was finished the AH worked again normal for me.

That was 3-4 days ago i think. No further problems since then.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Avast! (Much like other AV Solutions) will remember the file it last scanned for a while. So it doesnt always scan the same file.

It does this by looking at the header of the file, its size, last accessed date, and last accessed by who.

But, whenever a file gets updated it will rescan that file over again.

You should be fine after letting it fully scan the exe’s that spawn under gw2.exe once. if it continues then there might be something wrong with your Avast! install, and you should consider repairing it.

Got same problem. Sometimes I’m able to enter TP but most of the times I got this same notification from avast. It tells me that scanning awesomium will take few seconds, but it last as long as I have TP window opened. Once I close TP this notification dissapear’s and another one is telling me that no threat was found.

This point is a good reason to remove stupid AV from your system.

This AV is the worst virus. It makes your system and game unstable.

If you’re referring to Avast, you are incorrect. I have no issues with it at all and it doesn’t have any problem with the “Awesomium” process either.

I avoid use of AV soft at all. For special cases I use virustotal.
