Any benchmarks out there for 5760x1080p ?
Philippine Heroes [Ph]
Can anybody post a link or a vid or running 5760×1080p benchmarks for Guild Wars 2? I’ve tried to search for GW2 benchmarks on T1 WvW fights running on 5760×1080p but my Googling powers have failed me.
I am asking because I am torn between getting a 2560×1440p monitor or getting triple 24’s for a 5760×1080p setup. I am not sure though if Nvidia Surround is a good idea on SLI for Guild Wars 2. I only play Guild Wars 2 and occasional DotA 2 perhaps to relieve the stress on my eyes from WvW. FPS games are not for me though, I bought the idea of triple monitors already.
I also wanted to know if it would affect my WvW experience like drop so much or something else drastic. I am running on a 4.5Ghz i5 3570K with a GTX 780 and lousily using a 766 monitor. I have accepted the fact hat if I go for the 5760×1080 setup, I need to add another similar card.
If you are going to ultra-wide screen and span monitors like that, expect a 50% cut off your current performance. And that’s being generous.
I run a Triple Display setup on my system. 5060×900 (3x 1600×900 LED Monitors). And while the performance takes a huge Hit, being on an arrow cart in WvW with that wide of a range of view….its completely priceless and worth the performance hit.
But Ill tell ya a little Trick I figured out a while back.
Setup your Triple Monitors as extended Displays. Hit your Windows Key + P, choose Clone. Now setup your Triple Monitors for Surround/EyeFinity. Set GW2 to Windowed Mode – Full Screen.
Now, when you NEED/want to switch between Extended (1080p) and Surround (Ultra Wide) just hit Windows+P and choose between the two. Since GW2 is windowed and full screen it will auto re-size based on what display profile you select :-)

Will it help if I add another similar card? or will the performance be lower?

This game does not do to well with SLI/CrossFire. I ran CrossFire for a while, but the gains vs the power drain was not worth it.
So I run on a single card now.

So ok. How about on 2560×1440?

This game will take SLI better than crossfire. A friend of mine plays with two GTX 480s and 5760×1080 and an i7 930 at 4 GHz or 3.4 GHz. switches between the two sometimes. At 4 GHz he gets great FPS everywhere save for obvious areas like lion’s arch or wvw but everything else is fantastic he says. He plays with shadows and reflections off too. sometimes single GTX 480.
its hard to say what resolution will work with your rig. With mine I know that 5060×900 works just fine (4800×900 due to bezel correction). You might be fine with the 1080p, or 1440, but you wont know until you buy into it.
But I can say this, performance good or not. The Ultra-Wide screen is very awesome in MOST games.

Is it possible for you to ask what fps your friend gets at LA at WvW zerg fights and at LA? Thanks for this reply.

Looking at the bank from the mystic forge on black gate he got around 25-30 fps on a single screen, triple screen might be a little less. wvw I don’t know.
This is from another thread but it shows the resolution that your asking about at a known fps blackspot.
Note: you can probably add on 3-4fps for normal play with Render Sampling set to native.
That’s with 2 × 670 stock cards.

I have a GTX 780 Classifed, and run at 3200×1800 (downscalled), its slightly less total res than 5760×1080, and a good lot more than 2560×1440. I rarely see my GPU max out, it can somtimes get to around 90% – 95% usuage in certain places in LA and only when its not restricted by CPU/game engine performance, even then the FPS is 55-60.
Thats with max settings except Reflections (terrain & Sky) WITH Supersampling.
In 90% of situations u will hit a FPS wall caused by the way the game uses the CPU, ratehr than ur 780 maxing out.
Heres a screen shot from the halloween event in the worst place possible for FPS in LA -the Gpu was NOT maxed, the sub 60 FPS is due to the CPU/Engine.

Screenshots SS1 and SS2 are at 5040×900, the first is with Shaders and Shadows Set to medium, the Second is Ultra settings.
Granted its at the QD Boar champ, but still should give you an idea of performance gaps from a single display to 3.
SS4 is 1600×900 everything turned to full but Shaders, they are set to Medium.

Much thanks to the screenies! Ok, I’m going for the triple monitors. Thanks a lot

Wow Sirsquishy ….those GPU temps …not good.
If those are correct reading i would highly advise u sort it out, regular usuage at those temps can diminish the longevity of that card.

Those temps are when I push the card like that, which i never do.
Normally I dont run the game all pretty like that, just did for for compare/contrast for the OP. Normally my temps are 65-75c depending if im in WvW or not.
But yea, pushing all the settings to max, 95c is not good :-)
BUT, for a $107 card what can ya expect. that HD7790 can Chug!

No doubt the 7790 is a great budget card, but i still think somthign is off with those temperatures being that high. The reviews iv seen of the Diamond 7790 (am i correct in saying this is ur one?) shows load temps should be around the 75c mark at most.

Interesting, Ill have to look at it then. My Core is 1075 and my ram is 1575. Neither are OC, and according to that article I shouldnt be pushing even 80C’s on that card with those clock rates (And 65-75c is my normal Range, I get to 80c’s in WvW all the time though).
Any recommendations on GPU aftermarket Coolers if I have to go that route?

Usualy just putting on new TIM, making sure case has good airflow, and settings a custom fan profile is enough to keep things cool.
if not, and the card is still within warenty, i would RMA it for running to hot.
Otherwise for aftermarket coolers, look into the Arctic Accelero range, they have dual fan, triple fan, and hybrid water/fan coolers available.

Do remember that these types of semi universal aftermarket GPU coolers usualy include heatsinks for the VRM’s and VRAM, which are stuck on with thermal adhesive, meaning they are perminant.

Thanks for the TIM idea. I took my GPU out and removed the HSF. The TIM from the factory was pretty much non-existent, and the screws holding the HSF to the card were very loose.
I applied my Diamond IC7, and under full load, GW2 at MAX settings, 100% GPU load, 100% GPU Fan speed, my peak temp is 65c.
Maybe Ill up my clocks on this card to 1200 (since many report that is a good thing to do for the 7790 series) and see what benefit I can get.
