Are this specs good for GW2
the cpu is a bit weak but it pretty good.
im asking cause im getting 16 to 20 fps no matter the settings i use in game
and was wondering what cpu should i upgrade to
7870 is overkill for this game. 7850 yields the same performance since the game is CPU bound.
i5-3570k with Radeon 7850 2gb is ideal.
PVE – 66-72 fps
PVP – 53-64 fps
WvW- 20-45 fps
Cities – 40-70 fps
FX-8350 w/ Radeon 7850 2gb
PVE – 45-60 fps
PVP – 40-55 fps
WvW – 15-45 fps
Cities – 35-60 fps

if you don’t change motherboard, getting a i5-750 and OCing it is the best thing. It will get you from those fps to 20 – 30 fps probably.
In regards to this, you might need to just OC your cpu and see how things improve.
I have Bootcamped Win7 64
Intel Core due Duo @ 2.25 GHz
8 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
On lowest graphic settings I’m getting around 30 FPS in empty maps, 15-20 in dungeons and 1-15 FPS in WvW xD
15chars
i am thinking on upgrading to this anyway http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=18669091

Very good build and i suggest you to buy also watercooling Corsair H60,i have the same mobo with FX8120 oced to 4.3ghz with H60…..working like a charm
Your currently running an intel .. Switching from an intel to an AMD for GW2 performance is not a good idea.
Intel cpu’s have better single thread performance which is where GW2 gets most of its performance from.
Your current cpu would do beter if OC’d.
However changing to a 2nd or 3rd Gen Intel i5 K series cpu would be your best option. 1st gen i5’s are good but not compared to 2nd and 3rd gen.
The difference between 2nd and 3rd gen isnt really all that much once you take OC’ing into concideration so going with ether is fine.
I Sugest
2550k + Motherboard + Evo 212 cooler ( OC to 4.5ghz)
or
3570k + Mothebroard + Evo 212 cooler (OC to 4.4ghz)
At those OC’s both will give you roughly the same performance. The 3570k may strugle to hit 4.4ghz on that cooler though so just a warning there.
if you have another £30 spare go for a Noctua NH-D14 cooler instead and you ‘shouldnt’ have any issues hitting those OC’s. But be warned ..that cooler is massive and you will have to check ur case and your RAM height to see if you can fit it.
