Q:
Artifacts and flickering graphics
A:
HD series seems to have bad drivers for gw2. I have hd7850 and i have flickering, white blueish artifacts as well. Some drivers make it worse or better but they are still there. There is tone of ppl on the internet that have the same problems from 7850 to 7970. All other games, benchmarks run fine.
I have the same problem, although not as bad as the picture you have attached here. Ever since recent patches some objects on screen will blink black for a frame or so. Using an i5 3570k and amd 7950 with beta 12.11 drivers.
So ever since I bought the game yesterday, I’ve been encountering problems with the graphics where things will flicker in and out of existence, some of which shouldn’t be there. My framerate is fine, it is just this problem with the graphics, even when I play on the lowest settings.
I have an intel pro 3000 graphics card, which exceeds the minimum requirements.
First that’s not a graphics card, it is the minimum required, and it’s not made for gaming. Check and see if their a driver update other than that you have what you have.
Btw anyone found a fix for this one ? New drivers sux kitten as well.
I have the same problem with textures.
I’m using the latest drivers for my hd 7850 (12.11 beta) and I have the same problem with the disappearing textures.
Although this does not happen all the time but at some 10-15 min a few seconds something flashes on the screen, this is not a serious problem but very annoying I hope that will fix it in the latest version of the driver for example in Skyrim is the latest not can I play there all the time flashing textures

Well alot of ppl have probm with this series and they start to think that it might be series 7xxx hardware fault and that would suck kitten. Even for drivers only they should have fixed it long ago. You buy the “not the cheapest” card and get kittenload of problems with so many games . . .
I found that going back to 12.10 drivers after completely uninstalling and using driver fusion http://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion to delete any left behind AMD files helped me greatly. The random occasional flicker is almost non existent now. I also installed the AMD application profiles for 12.10
Ye some drivers gives less flicker (12.3 almost none). Overclocking the card also makes them faster and harder to see so your hd 7950 should display them even faster then mine 7850 so you wont rly notice them at some drivers. I just hope they either fix it with 12.12 and if not im returning the card and getting nvidia. Worst thing is that thoes cards might be fauly for the most of series but amd wont say anythign about it cuz they would lose alot of profit. Eh my first and lats ati card.
Btw as well as flickers i got thoes black lines in ascalonian catacombs ( they are pernament there tried underclocking. changing drivers and gw2 repair and they are still there) and somtimes i have thoes in fotm drednought suit/ancien elemental fractal. I had thoes only there where ascalonian is always “corrupted”. I dont think its my hardware cuz all my textures should be like this and same goes for other games and its only thoes 2 locations.
I had some textures bobbing in and out and some flashing artefacts, mainly in the sky.
Things got better after turning my shader down to medium.
HD-5850 Catalyst 12.8
You should probably look more into this. 7xxx series have problems with graphic but never heard that 5850 had flickerking as well. I can pretty much set everything to lowest and still get some flashing and thoes lines are even more visible with no textures. I think ill try reinstaling windows but after new amd and mother board drivers go live. I just dont belive that it have anything to do with hardware cuz so many ppl have the same kitten problems. In my case it could only be motherboard or graphic card (but hell lines only in 2 places and flickering in like few games … that just cant be hardware).
It’s only one or two games that I have problems with flickering textures, it use to be a lot worse years back with ATI cards. So they are getting better. Usually it gets ironed out either with new drivers or with game optimization.
